Explain the act:
The Royal Proclamation of 1763 was issued to halt the colonists from moving westward while, they were expanding the fur trade. In affect it was designed to calm Native Indians.

Why did the British pass it?
King George III wanted to pacify (calm) native americans who sided him during the Seven Years' War.

How did the colonists reach?

They were upset that Britain had made the area available for settlement a small amount. They were also angry because the law did not let them settle in the Ohio River Valley where there was fertile soil for farming that wasn't being used. Many colonists had already bought land west of the Appalachians and weren't able to move. Most colonists did not respect the Native Americans and did not want to preserve their land. The colonists broke the law and moved across the Appalachians.
