The charm of these traditional textiles fascinated me so much that I set out to learn about the Hmong textile intangible cultural heritage in the Southwest China and spent 3 months living in a Hmong village. During these 3 months, I became friends with the people in the Hmong village, who were simple, kind and hospitable. On the one hand, retired women wear hand-woven, dyed and embroidered garments on the daily life. However, for the young in the region, these garments are only worn when the young attend group events (e.g. weddings, funerals, etc.). 

On the other hand, due to the rapid spread of short video platforms, practitioners are more likely to learn textile skills through short videos than from local retired, creating a problem of cultural homogenization, where the distinctiveness of different styles of textile skills from different communities in the Southwest China is diminishing and cultural uniqueness and iconicity is diminishing.
