The teacher was really nice and down to Earth, which I hope happens again. My expectations for English 102 is a higher standard of writing when it comes to an argumentative essay. The class is based around Rhetorical writing so I assume we're going to be working on Rhetorical writing strategies. I think its really cool that we're going to get to work with a high school students at a peer to peer level. I really hope the class will be fun and interesting.

I did decent in the course but learned that I still have a lot of growing to do as a writer. My expectations for English 102 are to become a good persuasive writer in order influence my reader to respond how I want them to. I’m excited to learn how to construct a website because that is a skill that has so much potential for future opportunities.

My last class went very well and I hope that I can continue that streak of good writing, because of this I have high expectations for myself, and even though I’m pretty sure that each paper will be torn apart and left to ribbons ill stitch them back together creating an amazing paper.

From the brief overview in class, it is clear that not only has the level of difficulty been augmented but the expectations. I am excited to tackle the tough challenges that lie ahead. Most importantly, I am hoping my English 102 experience will be as memorable as my 101 class.

The Wildcat Writers program threw me off a bit because I never thought I'd be working along side high school students but I am looking forward to it. After reading through the policies, this course seems like it will be fun and it is also straight forward with the rules.

I personally did not like English 1010 because it was more focused on the writers feeling and opinions rather than research and facts. That was weird for me to write that way because throughout high school I was writing research papers and used facts to support my claims. It was a style of writing I was not used to. Before class started today I was expecting this class to be a continuation of English 101 and write more opinion based papers. After class today I am expecting to improve my writing in the argumentative stand point and try to get people to see where I am coming from and the way I think

I took Writing 101 in high school through a dual enrollment program. I look forward to being able to write again since I didn’t take a writing course last semester. Communication, and collaboration will be an important factor in Writing 102. I am excited to learn more about the partnership we will have with Sunnyside High School. Hopefully, working with the high school students will not only challenge them, but help me to grow as a writer as well. I expect Writing 102 to be a very insightful class.

I took English 101 as dual enrollment when I was in high school, and have saved my general education classes for the end of my degree program. I didn't do so well in my English class last semester because rhetorical analysis was my downfall. There were limited topics to write about that weren't very well in my interest, but that's partly on me. Because of my lack of writing ability, I hope to develop skill in this area. As a music education major, I'm not too sure how much I'll need skills much better than my current level, but perhaps I'm overlooking something important. Overall, I hope to use this class to better my skills, and hopefully expand by analyzing varying topics.

Though today this class will be more than that and nearly have a entirely different subject matter presented in a different way than my previous professors. Most of it seems positive other than the speech we will have to speak, and the peer program with the high school in Tucson seems like it can be interesting and we can learn from it. Hopefully the subject matter in this course will be more interesting than that of English 101 as it hopefully appears to be.

She was super sweet and would get off topic sometimes, though I enjoyed the people, the assignments threw me off a little. Going into English 102 I was scared that it would be even harder. Just attending one class I already know I will enjoy it. The assignments already seem so different but I like it. I am going to be majoring in Law and I am someone who is not good at arguing, but knowing that's what English 102 is sorta about, I am super excited. I can expect this class to be very interesting and know I have a teacher to help answer any questions.

However, what I learned from todays class kind of caught me off guard in that we will be having a speech, something that I am not too fond of but at the same time a speech is something to be expected from an English class. The collaboration between our class and the Sunnyside HS class also surprised me but does sound like a great learning experience for the HS students and will definitely have an interesting outcome.

I actually enjoyed my English 101 class-- I liked how we as writers got to explore ourselves and our voice in a creative manner. Here, in English 102, I can expect it to be just as enjoyable because now we are establishing an argument that can further project our voices and back our ideas with evidence. The idea of creating these arguments will then allow us to become more open-minded which is always fun considering there are thousands of points of view on any one subject. What I hope to improve on in these coming weeks, which I have minor issues with still, is creating a thesis that fully captures the argument of the paper without restricting myself too much.

So after my first day in English 102, my expectations didn’t line up with the reality of this class. I knew it was going to be about arguments, but I assumed it was going to be the same type of style as English 101. English 101 was very little assignments and a lot of discussion. Then there were four main essays throughout the semester. By the end of my first class in English 102, it seems like a lot more assignments and less discussion. I would like to learn how to make an argument flow and have an intense persuasion in my writing. I do not know a lot about argumentative writing, so I would also like to learn the basics of it and be able to master that.

I did not exactly hate English 101, but I felt that I had already learned a lot of the material presented in English 101 from high school. Coming into English 102 I believe I already have a good understanding of MLA and APA formatting. Although I am pursuing a degree in biochemistry (a very APA heavy degree), I look forward to using MLA formatting in my papers written for this class. I feel that throughout this semester I will gain a better understanding of argumentative writing, along with practicing research skills and other analytical skills in order to improve my writing skills. I think that by the end of this semester I expect to understand, or at least have a better understanding, reading and writing skills geared toward argumentative writing, through research and analysis skills. I find that this will be important for my future because I will need to write many papers throughout my career in the natural and physical sciences.
