"Your justification is great and it makes sense to readdress this area with an evaluative emphasis on the fact that even though there has been a previous strategy implement the rates remain below the national average. Perhaps you can explore what worked/did not work with the previous strategy and embed this into your strategy and planning. If you can find supportive literature about this that would be beneficial".

Regarding your statistics slide - it is great you have shown the initiation rates and how this compares to rates at 6-8 weeks. Often, we see high initiation rates and then this rapidly drops off (you could address why this may be, e.g., due to lack of continued MW support etc., and link this to the other stats you provided (i.e., deprivation and ethnic minority groups etc). Please ensure you add references to where you obtained the statistics from".

Whilst researching resources that may help improve breastfeeding continuation rates, I discovered the ANYA app, which aims to provide 24/7 support to breastfeeding mothers.

I found it particularly interesting that the app has a "LatchAid 3D tool", that contains realistic animations of how to improve positioning and attachment in a range of different breastfeeding positions. The app allows the user to change the view to first person, so it shows women how to latch their baby from their perspective.

I thought this resource would be particularly useful for women that do not speak English as their first language. This can often serve as a barrier when providing breastfeeding support, however this app shows visually how to position and attach their baby.
