She was a poor person, I was her poor child, and no one asks poor people if they want war. page 13
- I like an chose this quote because of the last line "no one asks poor people if they want war." Which I find to be true, no one asks poor people if they want a war and yet when a war breaks out its primarily the poor that have to go fight and die while the rich and in power sit back or retreat.

What am I dying for? he cried back. I’m dying because this world I’m living in isn’t worth dying for! If something is worth dying for, then you’ve got a reason to live. page 200
- I like this quote because even though it is written in text you can still hear the emotion behind this quote, you can hear the heartache of someone that is sad or losing hope. This quote is of Bon who has been through a very horrible event of losing his wife and child, with that subliminally questions life and the cowardice of leaving Vietnam.

What do those who struggle against power do when they seize power? What does the revolutionary do when the revolution triumphs? Why do those who call for independence and freedom take away the independence and freedom of others? page 331
- I like and chose this quote because it has truth to it, those who have to overcome power to find themselves in power end up being similar to the people they just stood against. Others have no clue what to do when they now have the power. When you gather enough people to have a revolution what do they do when its over, they o back to what normalcy they had before only its not normal its a new world but no one thinks of what to do next.

The Sympathizer written by Viet Thanh Nguyen and published by Grove Press is about a North Vietnamese mole who worked his way up to intelligence officer in the South Korean military, telling his story of when he had to be moved to the US with his South Vietnamese "Partners". It tells of the hard choices He had to make, the rough situations he was in, what he did in the united states while covering somethings back in Vietnam and how it all ended for him. This novel shows what the narrator had to go through during his long term espionage, it goes through his life in Los Angeles and those he had to sacrifice in order to stay under cover, the relationships he made with people here like Sofia, and the most interesting his secret message with his "aunt" who is actually a person called "Man" who is the person he sends information to on knowledge of what the south Vietnamese military are doing.

My Favorite Character in the Book the Sympathizer is the General. The General is my favorite character because though he had a small role in the book he is a big part of the Narrator's life in the book. Since the narrator got the General killed by framing him as the north mole to get heat off himself and assisting in his assassination, since that point the General has been Haunting the narrator throughout the rest of the novel. He appears to him in important moments adding stress and anxiety to the narrator it especially when the situation is already intense. the visual and mental guilt aspect is why he is my favorite character even though its a visual form of the narrators consciousness antagonizing him is fun for me to read.

From " The Sympathizer" I learned how some southern Vietnamese people hated that the United States got involved in their war, which was something that I heard before but never looked into. the book shows that some or most "boat people" didn't want to leave their country and would have rather stayed or go back to help fight for Vietnam.

After reading the entirety of "The Sympathizer" I would say that the author was trying to tell the story of a north Vietnamese mole in the South Korean military. The author wanted to express they difficulty, regret, and sadness those who left Vietnam had, because for some it felt like abandonment. Another point the author wanted to make was to show how people and the military in the United States felt on the war but primarily how people in the US view boat people and how they tried to use some of them for profit.
