The teachers can have the class work towards a no shoes day inside the classroom, gum day, popcorn party, etc.

At the end of the week a couple names are drawn and they get to chose out of a treasure box.

When directions are given and there is a student off task, instead of pointing that student out negatively start with narrating 3 positive specific praise to students around them. Then should alert the student they are off task and will want that positive praise. It will avoid defense in many students and usually get them back on task without having to address them directly. If the student is still off task I will respond to the misbehavior and provide a consequence since my expectation wasn't met.

While working independently the teacher can place the critter on the quiet students desk to reward them for doing a good job. After the timer is up or however the teacher designs the strategy the student can pass it off to another student who is quiet.
