I am going to write about a memory from when I was a child.

The memory I have is of a trip to Rio de Janeiro. It was me, my father, my mother who was 3 months pregnant with my brother and my grandmother.

We spent 20 days in Rio de Janeiro and we enjoyed a lot. We visited several beaches like: Arraial do Cabo, Copacabana, Barra beach and we also went to the Sugar Loaf, Christ the Redeemer and we took a boat ride in Angra dos Reis.

It was the best trip until today, but unfortunately during the last days we were on a bus that was speeding and ended up hitting a pole. Everyone that was inside the bus was very injured because of the glass. All the windows were blown out with the impact and a lot of people were really hurt.

Thank God my mother didn't lose her baby. Today my brother is 9 years old. But that was the only negative point, the trip was very good and I hope one day to go back there.

Student: Karollyne Rocha

When I was a kid I used to make many things all the day. Many things that I used to do got on my mom's nerves. Practically every day my mom punished me because of the things that I did.
My relatives always talk about how I was agitated. They usually talk about a story that I climbed a ladder. They say that I was only two years old when I did it. At that time, my mom was pregnant, and because of this she couldn't climb the ladder to take me. But she didn't see when I was in the top of the ladder, and the ladder was bigger than my aunt's home. The person that saw me in the top of the ladder was our neighbor that lives in front of my house. She was the one who went to take me, and she was afraid of height. After she took me she told my mom what happened and my mom hit me and punished me.
Basically I was a little pest when I was a kid. Many people didn't like to take care of me because I didn't stop quietly. The one who liked to take care of me was my grandparents. They loved to take care of me and my sister. I always asked my mom for us to go to my grandparents' house. And when we went there, I didn't want to go back to my house.

I remember many good things I used to do when I was a kid. I’d watch cartoons and play on the street with my friends.

I loved watching cartoons. I had many favorite cartoons during my childhood but I’m not going to talk specifically about all of them. In the mornings, I usually woke up, had my breakfast, and went straight to watch cartoons. I used to watch cartoons on that kind of big old TV. Back then we didn’t have a good wire to catch the signal. It was frustrating when the channel that had the cartoons didn’t work well. It got on my nerves when I needed to shake the wire or the antenna to get the signal better. It was even more infuriating when the other channels were incredibly good but only the channel I wanted was terrible. Nevertheless, when I finally got a good signal, I used to spend almost all the morning watching cartoons. They were pretty funny and made me feel happy at that time.

Playing on the street was also one of my favorite parts of the day. Sometimes, my mother used to deceive me to make me go back home because I didn’t want to stop playing with my friends. It was so nice to play on the street that sometimes I’d disobey my mother and play on the street without her permission. I’d drive my mother crazy when I did that. I used to play the same plays every day. Some of my favorite plays were Hide-and-Seek, Hopscotch, Tag, and Stickball. Those days were so nice. We didn’t have many technologies as we do nowadays. We were happy, though. One interesting point about all of this is that when we were sick of playing the games we used to play, we created a new game.

I think I had a very good childhood because I enjoyed it as much as I could. I think that those things I did contributed to my development. I still talk to the friends that I made when I was a child and the cartoons made me have fun, despite all the problems with that old tv.

Danyelle M.

I don't have a lot of childhood memories but my mom tells me a lot of things and shows me pictures of important moments, so I'll try to talk a little about my best memories.
When I was a kid I had a friend who always came to spend the vacation at her aunt's house, and her aunt's house is next to my house. So when she was there , we played almost all day and that was so cool, but unfortunately we don't talk anymore because she stopped going to her aunt's house.
For my 6th birthday, my parents gave me a house as a birthday present. It was actually a pink castle-shaped tent with pink plastic balls inside. I loved staying inside that castle and play with my toys. I'd play there all day.
Another great memory I have was when I got my first bike. This bike was pink, too. I loved pink back then. I remember I used to like to go to my cousin's house to ride a bike with him. And when I went to my mother's family's house I played many things with my cousins. We used to play school and office. Another toy that I got and I really liked was a doll that was about my height. It happened when I was seven years old. I did her hairstyles, painted her nails and I did fashion shows with her. I miss that time because now I have more responsibilities.

                                      Anne Karoline Graeff.

I’m going to write about a memory from when I was a child. An unforgettable story that I have is the day I moved to another city. I was born in Itaituba, a countryside here in Pará. I lived there until I was 6 years old, with my father, my mother and my 2 brothers.

In 2011, I came to live in Belem with my family. And that was very sad for me. I loved my life in that city. I liked the school. I had many friends, so I was very sad about this change.

I have a best friend since I was 1 year old. She lives there until today, and I remember as if it were yesterday the day I left and our goodbye. We were children, so we cried a lot. I remember I screamed a lot and made a fuss. Even so, we didn’t lose touch and today I have come to terms with it.

Moving to a new city changed many things in my life, so this day will remain in my memory.

I will share some memories below.
Firstly, I remember that I was not a very quiet child, I really liked to talk.
Secondly, I remember that on my first day at school I cried a lot when my mother left, but a few seconds later my teacher called me to play and I stopped crying and went to play. When it was time to leave and my father was late I started to cry because I thought he had forgotten about me at school.
Thirdly, I remember when I was a child I dreamed and I also had a lot of nightmares, but not so many nowadays.
Quarterly, I remember when I started to skate for the first time when I was seven years old, but I learned to ride it only when I was ten years old, I didn't fall too much because I was afraid.
And finally, when I was nine years old, I got my first nine in math, and I was very sad and cried a lot because I only got ten and for me, at that time, nine was not a good grade.

Evellin nicoly

Have you ever thought about visiting a city built from abandoned old mines? In Coober Pedy this is possible. The place is known to be a great place to live, as daily activities aren't hampered by the high probability of typical sunlight in the region. The Australian city is also very famous for the opal stones that are mined there.
The city has a curiosity: almost all of the houses, commerces and churches are subterranean. People migrated their houses to under the earth to escape the heat of the desert. The city was populated in 1915 when the opal mines was discovered locally. The heat of the desert was so intense that people had a creative idea to try to escape of the heat: build their houses under the ground to escape of the high temperature.
About 3.500 people live in the city in subterranean houses with 2 to 6 meters of depth, normally the bathroom and the kitchen are above the ground to make the supply of water easier. Above the ground the temperature is about 51°C. The temperature inside the city is up to 24°C.
If you want to take a different trip, the Coober Pedy city is a great place to visit.

Paulo Ferreira

Student: Karollyne Rocha
Write the descriptions of a city or town.

I'm going to write about the descriptions of an island.
The most isolated city in the world is on an island called "Tristan of Cunha".
It was discovered in 1506 by a man named "Tristan of Cunha".
This island is located between South America and Africa, right in the middle. At the time, it served as a stop for the ships when they were traveling.
In 1810, the first 3 inhabitants arrived, but only in 1860 the island starts to have real inhabitants. And 6 years later, the island received an official name: "Edinburgh of the Seven Seas".
Nowadays there are only 4 cars on the island, 1 for the police (which is not used), 1 for the fire department, 1 for the hospital and 1 for the population to use.
At the place, there is no crime, there is a small museum, a bar and a market that sells basic everyday things. If someone needs something that the market does not have, the person must give 30 days notice.
On the island there is no cell phone signal and there are only 280 people.
There are 14 people who are in charge of everything on the island and are elected by the population every 3 years.

I got to know this city through a book in which the story takes place in Greece.
The City is well know for its wonderful sunset. You can see the sunset from anywhere, but the best place to see it is in Oia castle. In Oia, there are wonderful landscapes, the whitewashed houses are also beautiful, and that helps in the beauty of the city. Another great activity to do while in Oia is hiking. There has a trail between the two main cities of Santorini, which are Oia and Fora, the trail lasts from 2 to 5 hours.
In Oia you can descend more than two hundred forty steps to amoudi bay , and when you arrive at amoudi bay you can dive in the waters there . The Greek food is amazing, there are many restaurants, and in Oia there's a very famous bookstore , the bookstore name is Atlantis Books , I would love to go to that bookstore one day. The Temperature in Oia varies from 9°c to 30°c.

   - Anne Karoline Graeff

Chefchauoen is a famous city of Morocco. In this city, almost all the houses are painted with blue color. This is why this city is famous for. The city is also known as “The blue pearl of Morocco.” People say that Jews used to live there many years ago, and they were the people who started this blue-painting houses tradition. In addition, they say the reason for painting the houses in blue color is for keeping the mosquitoes way. Others believe that painting houses in blue color helps to keep them cool during the warm season.

The population of the city is about 42,786 people. People there have many life traditions and religious celebrations. Most of the times, they visit their family and friends during religious occasions. This is also one of the other attractions we can find in this city. Moreover, the traditional houses they live are placed very close to one another, and the streets are not large. In fact, they are like hallways and, as the houses have the same color, people use to get lost sometimes.

The environment is also an attraction of this city. There are forests and mountains. This environment also attracts many tourists every year. It is a perfect option for adventure people. Hiking to the waterfalls of Akchour is one of the activities you can do there. However, it is important to consider the best season and the climate do to it. From October to April there are rainy and cool winters, and from May to September, there are dry and hot summers.

Danyelle M.

There is a town a little or very different from the others, in terms of inhabitants, area, and places to go, this town is called Monowi.
Monowi is a town of about 1 person in United States.
This town was founded in 1900 and had around 150 inhabitants in 1930 and it was in 2004 that Elise's husband died, and from that year onwards the city had only one inhabitant. But nowadays the reality is different, because the place is considered the smallest in the United States and only has 210 m².
The normal temperature is -6°C to 34°C.
In monowi, there is only one citizen named Elsie, and she holds the post of mayor. In this town, there is only a library, a school with two rooms, an old church and a bar, which Elsie takes care of. There are no more places to visit in this town.
Sometimes people from the neighboring town go there to Elsa's bar.
In 1960, the local church held its last funeral, that of Elsie's father. In the 70s, some commercial establishments began to close, such as: the post office, the only supermarket and the only school. The population was aging or moved to the big city.

Hello class. I’m going to talk about my personality. I consider myself an ambivert person because sometimes I’m extrovert, I like to talk with other people, I like to socialize, go out and stay with a lot of people. But IN other moments I’m AN introvert, because I’m shy with specific people in specific moments, and I prefer TO stay alone and quiet.

MOST of THE time, I’m an outgoing person, VERY talkative and friendly. I love to talk with my friends and family about everything. I like to go out with both, too. I like to make new friends, and I FIND IT easy TO speak with people.

On the other hand, I’m shy to speak in public, I AM ASHAMED to talk with some people and IT is not everyone that I like to talk TO and go out WITH. Sometimes I’m in my extrovert moment and my “social battery” would end, and I’m back to being introverted.

My grandmother is similar and different FROM me at the same time, because she is always AN extrovert. Many times that I was in a group of people that I don't know, I'm an introvert person and I don't speak so much, I KEEP in silence. Hardly ever DO I speak and I look AT other things and don't look AT the group so much. When I am with people that I know I talk so much, I make funny COMMENTS and I laugh a lot.
Sometimes I think that I am like my mom, my personality is so similar TO my mom's personality. My mom is an extrovert person. She is so funny, she ALWAYS HAS a smile in her face. She talks with everyone in the streets or in a row in any opportunity to talk with someone she does. And sometimes I do the same, I talk with some people that I don't know and sometimes I am completely THE opposite OF my mom. I don't talk with anyone and stay in silence. Some of my personalities traits are pretty similar to my father’s even though I’m more like my mother. My brother, though, is completely different from me.

I’m that kind of person who is nice and respectful to everyone. I don’t care if people think like me or not. I know that every people are different and I respect them, and I try to be nice even IF they are not nice to me. I think life is better when we do this. Besides, I’m the kind of person who tries to avoid problems. I hardly ever argue with people. In addition, I’ve observed that people like to invite me to go out with them. This is something I like to do. I think they appreciate my company, and I'm good to be around. When I go out with my friends, for example, I like to talk with them. Sometimes I’m the one who starts the conversation. For me this is not a problem. I'm always opened to have a good conversation.

My father is a nice person.
DANYELLE - The advantages and disadvantages of studying English abroad

Studying English abroad is always a good experience. It can bring great opportunities for your life such as enriching your knowledge about the language and culture, improving your listening and speaking skills, and you can meet new people. Despite all these advantages, it is important to consider that there are also some possible disadvantages such as cultural shock, the high prices of places to live, the problems with the weather, and homesickness.

Studying English abroad is a good option if you want to know more about the language and culture of English countries. The main benefit of going to a country where most people speak English is that you will certainly see how they live and learn more about the way they use the language (colloquial language, slang, idioms, jokes, and so on). You will enrich your knowledge. In addition, as you hear people speaking English all the time, you improve your listening skills. The more you listen to English, the more you can understand what people are talking about. Another plus is that you will talk to people in English so you will practice speaking. This will also bring the opportunity to meet new people.

Nevertheless, you will face some difficulties. The downside is cultural shock. Many students say that, although they have searched before about the culture of the country they chose to study English, they had problems because there are customs people have that they found weird. Another potential problem is that the places to live could be quite expensive. It could be hard to find a good apartment for a cheaper price. Also, you may face problems with the weather, if you do not like winter, for example. Homesickness also is one of the tricky issues. You may get homesick because you feel sad about being away from your home and miss your family and friends.

By Danyelle Silva

Study abroad
When we say that we want to study abroad we look only AT the advantages. Hardly ever DO we look to the downside. AT THIS MOMENT, IT is great TO have a person to make US SEE the bad points .
Some disadvantages OF STUDYING abroad are: in some situations you will need to go to study abroad and you can't BRING your family with you, you will stay AWAY FROM your parents, friends and brothers and sisters. ANOTHER disadvantage is the question of money. Because in some countries the Brasilian CURRENCY can BE worth more or less than in Brazil, but depending ON THE country it can be an advantage or a disadvantage.
Some advantages OF STUDYING abroad are: In other countries you can have empowerments better than in Brazil. StudyING abroad can be a good chance FOR you TO learn how to live alone, because you can study and work, and administer your time. To this you can work sharing your job with another person. With this you will can work only PART-TIME and study THE REST OF THE DAY.
StudyING abroad HAS advantages and disadvantages as all things that you will or not do, but with WILL you will need to administer it and be confident that you will cope with it.

-Paulo Ferreira

The virtual intelligence is evolving every day more and robots are the future. So, it is natural that many functions that are performed by humans today will be performed by robots in the future. But some professions will never be done by robots, because most of these professions need things that only humans have, like the emotions, the creativity or even the talent. And the robots do not have these characteristics, they don't have emotional intelligence.
Some of these professions are : the artists, the writers, the musicians and the singers. THESE things need people that have very creativity and talent to painT, write or to sing . And in my opinion, robots do not have THESE qualities and all of these professions need to convey emotions and feelings to the person that are reading the story that has been written, who is listening to the song that has been recorded or who is admiring the art that has been painted.
Professions who take care of others will not be replaced either. For example, psychologistS, caregivers and teachers who take care of the education of others. In schools, artificial intelligence can support education and teachers, but it will never replace teachers.

In my opinion, there are some things that will always be done by humans and never be done by robots as the teacher’s work and doctor’s work. There are many reasons WHY I chose these two types of work, and I am going to present them.

The teacher’s work will never be done by robots because this work requires a lot of studying and thinking. Robots do not think about what they do. They are made by humans and controlled by them. Besides, robots only follow instructions that are stored in their memory. ON THE OTHER hand, teaching is a dynamic work. That is to say that everything that happens in every class is different because in a class there are different students that have different levels, and also different questions to ask. Thus, teachers face different situations that are necessary they think a lot about what they say and do.

The doctor’s work, like the teacher’s work, is also dynamic and requires thinking and studying. Furthermore, doctors need to have the ability to solve problems quickly and, sometimes, improvise. In other words, when something unexpected happens during surgery, for example, humans are able to adapt to the new situation. This is something that robots cannot do, though.

by Danyelle Silva

Today many things that were done by humans have been done by robots like a bank assistant or a receptionist.
Many things that were DONE by humans in the past today the robots can do the same. Some robots can talk with people, sometimes they give advice to humans, or make jokes and organize the human's schedule. It sounds like Jarvis the AI (artificial intelligence) of ironman, but IT'S NOT, this is possible and IT happens in many countries. But THERE ARE things that the human will do forever like others humans, it will not be done by robots. The relationships that are made by humans the robots never will make. The feelings like happINESS and angER that have in relationships the robots can't fEEL.
This is my opinion, but the future can surprise me and thESE things could happen or not. And this is one thing I want to see.

By Paulo Ferreira

This story happened with my sister and me. Once we went to Belém to REPAIR A device. We went by the boat that TRAVELS FROM Outeiro to Belém. The boat HAS A specific time to go out. We didn't know the time that the boat WOULD come back to Outeiro. My sister disturbed me DURING all the TRIP to Belém to ask the man that works on the boat to know the time the boat WOULD cOme back to Outeiro. When the we arrived on the waterway port, I asked the man who works on the boat. The man told US that the boat would GO back to Outeiro AT 6 p.m. We went to the REAPIR SHOP FOR the maintenance. We believED that the boat would come back AT 6 p.m SO we went walkING TO the mall. We walked a lot. When IT was near 6 p.m we went to waterway port. When we arrived another man told us the boat went out 30 minutes earlier. And we needed to wait until 7:30 p.m . IT was all okay, but we DIDN'T HAVE internet CONNECTION to communicate to our parents and my mom was worried that we HADN'T arriveD yet and we didn't communicate WITH her. And when we arrived in Outeiro, she talkED a lot that we need to talk where we are, what time we will arrive in our house to she ISN'T stay worried.

By Paulo Ferreira

Study abroad is an important decision . So it is necessary to think a lot before deciding to do this , especially of you do not know anyone in your new country. But you have more advantages of study abroad than disadvantages.
The main advantage of study abroad is that you learn a new language, and if you already know the language of that country, you can practice and improve. Another advantage is that you also know a new culture, news foods and news friends too. When you move to study abroad, you will create more independence, because you will be alone.
The disadvantages are that you will be alone, your family and friends will not be there to help you. Another disadvantage is that you will spend a lot with an apartment and house, with food or transportation. And depending on what you are doing to study, you will not be able to work , maybe due to lack of time . So it is important to think and talk with your family to make the right decision.
- Anne Karoline Graeff

Some years ago I was a trainee in a public school that was located in a neighborhood a little far from mine, so I needed to take a bus or a van every day to go there. It was always good to go there because I liked the school and I enjoyed the route.
However, something unexpected happened to me on one of the days I went there. It was a stressful situation, and I am going to tell you now what happened.

Every day I used to wake up early and prepare all my things to go to the school where I was a trainee. I used to spend some minutes between taking my shower and organizing the things that I needed in my bag. I would want to make sure that every little thing was in my bag: my documents, my notebook, my personal items, and, most importantly, the money because without money I couldn’t pay for the ticket for my transportation.

So one day, I did all the things that I used to do and, after that, I went to the school where I was a trainee. I took a van and I was enjoying the route. But everything went down when I looked for my money to pay for the ticket. Guess What! I had forgotten my wallet in my house so I had no money! At that time I thought “ What am I going to do?” Well, I thought for a little while and told my situation to a man who was sitting next to me who gave me the money I needed. What a relief! I thanked the man for helping me, but at the same, time I was so mad at myself. I couldn’t believe I did that because I organized my things to avoid a situation like that, and then it happened. It was so stressful!

By Danyelle Silva

I will talk about AN embarrassing situation. It happened four years ago in my school . I had to do a puppet show about a children's story, and my group chose the story of Little Red Riding Hood.
I was very nervous, because all the people at my school would attend the presentation. So we did a scenery to tell the story with the puppets, then we put the scenery on top of two chairs, and when we were going to present, we had to stay crouched under the set, between the chairs. I knew this would not work, but I accepted, so when I went to introduce myself, I accidentally tripped over one of the chairs that were supporting the scenery, and everything fell to the floor. almost everyone saw it, and I almost died , I was very ashamed.
But after that ,my friends set the scenery up again and the presentation proceeded normally. fortunately , this situation never happened again, but now I am more careful when I have to MAKE a presentation.

- Anne Karoline Graeff

In my opinion there are two main cases of works that never will be done only by robots, as a doctor's work and the work of people WHO need to take care OF something or someone.

The technology of robots IS a big and good advance around the world, but in my opinion some thingS still need the humans' to work. For example, the doctors are vEry important in our life, because they take care OF our healthy, and I don’t think that robotS are capable to do a surgery in humans. This profession needS abilities of humans, feelings of humans, IT is a JOB that needS love, respect, and a lot OF knowledge about life. If robots are programmed to do specifics things, and in the last time an unforeseen event occurs, would the robot be able to solve the problem? It is very unlikely, because our body is a box of surprise.

There are others professions that need the humans, like AN elderly caregiver. It’s a good work to explain this situation. THERE ARE a lot of cases of works that need the humans' intelligence, because the humans can feel things, can take care of other with more compassion, love and mostly respect. The robots can’t do it with a good impression. So, in both cases the technology can be a good helper, but not do it alone.

By: Luiza coelho.

We WERE very excited with this experience. IT was very funny because I have a lot of cousins, so everyone was happy and joking all the time.

We BROKE branches, we SWAM, we WALKED on logs, the was a log in the middle of the water and we had to swim under the log. I reallyLOVED this experience, not because I was a kid, I STILLlike THESE adventures. A few moments later, we realized that we were walking in a circle, we were 30 minutes walking IN the same places. My uncle started to GO ON a new trail and try to find a way out. A long time later, heFOUND a street and we WENT walking to the ranch down the street. FOR some TIME, I was afraid, but In the end I reallyLIKED that day.

By Luiza coelho

Talking about the advantages and disadvantages of studying English abroad.

First of all about the advantages, I think that's a good opportunity to know new places, make new friends and especially to train the english. You can learn new words, improve your listening, writing and speech. You can learn slang and others customs about this language, for example the accents.

Now about the disadvantages, in fact I don't think it has many negative points, but I believe that living away from our family is the worst side. Start a new life in other place can be very difficult, But not necessary bad, it's depends on each person. If a person like changes it can be cool. So, in my opinion, the disadvantages is the difficulties that you can go through in this experience.
