*Through the module 1 science notebook assignment, specifically by watching the "Science in America" video, I have gained a new understanding that science is a collaboration of learning how to problem solve.

*As a result of this experience, I plan to continue to grow in science by volunteering at our school's yearly science fair. In addition, I will do my best as an educator to make science as fun and interesting as possible for my students.

*However, through reading the assigned article "What is Inquiry-Based Science?", I learned that we must utilize the scientific method when determining the scientific inquiry. In addition, I have learned that it is very important for educators to utilize and instruct students to use the method of scientific inquiry in their teachings.

*I will continue to learn and grow through scientific inquiry and the scientific method by utilizing these methods in my own classroom one day. In regards to the characteristics of life, I honestly have never put much thought into them before.

*By watching the assigned video Life Begins I learned that Fred Spire referred to life as being "A regime that contains the hereditary program for defining and directing molecular mechanisms that actively extract matter and energy from the environment with the aid of which matter and energy are converted into building blocks for its own maintenance and if possible reproduction."

*However, during the module 2 science notebook assignment I had the opportunity to learn about one of three genetic adaptations in humans and I chose Sickle Cell Anemia. Through the slide deck from the Howard Hughes Medical Institute, I learned that the disease is caused by a gene mutation that affects a person's red blood cells.

*I believe that my scientific perspective changed in module 1, after I read the article Why Science by Leah Shafer. What stood out to me the most was when the author states that science should be an education in problem solving and collaboration.

My daily routine was very basic and my lead teacher did not explain anything in depth to me.

*However, this changed during the science assignment analysis in module 2 when I had to interview a science teacher and then independently review an assignment. At this point, my lead teacher had no choice other than to explain to me why science was not apart of our classrooms learning and then she allowed me to go interview a fellow science teacher. 

*I plan to continue to grow in my apprenticeship in the classroom by reaching out of my comfort zone and asking for assistance when needed.
