The Pilgrims were previously living in Great Britain. At the time, diseased rats were spreading the plague, everyone was becoming scared, paranoid and were starting to become uncertain about their political and religious beliefs. Because of this, a small group of Pilgrims decided to set sail for a better life in America. To do this, they had to risk their lives by taking a boat to America knowing that when or if they even made it there that they'd have no where to stay, nothing to eat, etc. By taking that risk, they succeeded their American dream of living quiet and peaceful lives.
