The relationship between the farmers and the drought was rough. One of the only ways "okies" could make money were being "dry farmers." Being a dry farmer meant during rain months growing whatever you could, and during dry months, selling off your cattle. The only way "okies" made money was growing crops. In 1931, a drought that would last a decade was named the dust bowl. Without any rain or water coming to the desert It was already a tough time, with the great depression going on. Crops were drying up, people were starving to death, and crop prices went through the floor. A quote from the text was " By 1932 one thousand families a week were losing there homes in Texas, Oklahoma, and Arkansas." When things seemed as though they couldn't get any worse, great dust storms polluted the the dust bowl area. According to the text, "The wind blew the dry soil into the air, and every morning the sun rose only to disappear behind a sky of red dirt and dust." Homeless, poor, and desperate okies soon started to migrate to California. However, Californians did not want okies taking there jobs, so they were sent to labor camps. In total, the 1930's were a horrid time for the Okies. They were homeless, broke, desperate and dying in every direction. From the text: "No wonder they called it the dirty thirties."

The relationship between the drought and the farmers in the Dust Bowl was that it made their life a lot harder. The Okies relied on the rain to farm and survive, but as soon as the rain stopped, people had to sell the cattle and borrow money from the bank. Soon, the dust was so ferocious that they had to live off of rabbits and coyote. For example, on page 10, it says, "To survive, farmers took to hunting jackrabbits, and the Panhandle diet became biscuits, beans, and 'fried jack.'" They had no wheat or crops, so they would have to take to hunting. The drought and dust storm didn't help the farmers live with the great depression. On page 3 it says, "They were already suffering from the effects of the Great Depression, which had started in 1929..." The drought made it even harder for the people to live in, because not only did they have no farming land, they had no money to buy food for the family.

The relationship between the drought and the farmers in the Dust Bowl is that both made life lots more difficult. The Oakies trusted coyotes, jack rabbits, bread, and beans to feed them and keep them alive. Many people ended up having to sell farming machinery and cattle so that they could buy food, and other things. The dust storms got so awful that people had to put cloths on their faces. This was also bad because this took place after thegreat depresion, so some people were broke. On page 10, it says, "It was a time of desperation." This quote shows that this time period was very hard to live in. During the Dust Bowl, people lost land. "When afarmer couldn't pay the bank, a tractor was sent to knock down his farm house, as a was of forcing them to leave te land." This shows how hard it was to live, because if you were broke and could not pay the bank, you would lose your sheter/ home. You would be completely homeless. This all shows that the drought and the farmers in the Dust Bowl is that both made life a whole lot harder.

The relationship between the drought and the farmers in the Dust Bowl is that they both cause the something bad to happen. I know this because on page 3 it says "These people owned small family farms of forty to eighty acres and were "dry farmers." Dry Farmers means farming with such little grass. This takes away all of the topsoil which leaves nothing but hard red clay. This makes farming almost impossible, and without farming it would leave the farmer and the farmer's family starving. Not only this but when droughts happen the only time their crops can grow is when it rains. But one day in 1936 it hadn't rained more than a couple of drops. A Drought is when their is no water and the climate changes. This is why the farmer's hoped that it rained so their crops can grow. The main situation about the starvation of the farmers is drought because the farmers had to wait for it to rain so their crops would grow and the farmers and their family can eat. Dry Farmers is the cause of the Dust Bowl, because the loose and dry soil getting picked up by the heavy and fast winds. This causes all of the dirt to get blown in big amounts everyday. The Dust Bowl lasted for about 10 years all day everyday.

The relationship between the farmers in the dust bowl and the drought is that because if the drought wasn't happening during the dust bowl then the only problem would be the dust storms. I know this because in the text it said, "In 1931 it stopped raining in the dust bowl. The sky became bright and hot, and it stayed that way every day." Another quote to prove my claim is, "The wind blew the dry soil into the air." I chose these quotes because the first quote says how there was a drought. Quote 2 says how the dust storms made matters worse for the "Okies."

The relationship between the drought and the dust bowl caused a major event. The Okies were very poor and they lived off of rain for farming. Farming was their job and was their only way to make money. But when the rain stopped, the Okies were in trouble. On page three it says, "In 1931 it stopped raining in the panhandle. The sky became bright and hot, and it stayed like that." The dry farmers gambled for the rain to get their crops to grow. The storm took of the tops of the crops leaving red clay making it impossible to survive. Then people could not eat. At the time people were living off of jack rabbit for food and coyotes. People had to sell their cattle if they were alive. Children were assigned to go and clean the cattle's nose. Many people died from the sand causing a sickness called "Dust pneumonia." It killed people by dust damaging the lungs. The two almost worked together to cause misery. The wind would blow harder and harder every day. The Okies named this their dirty thirties.

The relationship between the drought and the farmers in the Dust Bowl is that if the drought didn't happen, and the soil was moist during the Dust Bowl, the Dust Bowl wouldn't have happened. I know this because the water would keep the moist soil on the ground. On page three of Children of the Dust Bowl, it states, "They had no irrigation system, no reservoirs to store water, no canals to bring water to their farms." Also, on page four of Children of the Dust Bowl, it said, "It hadn't rained more than a few drops in the Panhandle for five straight years." These quotes show that Oklahoma, Kansas, Texas, Colorado, and New Mexico had no water to farm any crops, and had no food to eat. The drought and the Dust Bowl happened at almost exactly the same time period, and just made it harder for the farmers to live. That is the relationship between the drought and the farmers in the Dust Bowl.

The relationship between the farmers and the dust bowl caused a huge event in american history, the biggest man made catastrophic event in american history. The Okies were very poor people from Oklahoma and it's bordering states. The way Okies made money was dry farming. But, when the dust storms started coming the crops were destroyed and known the less killed. The dust bowl started when it stopped in the middle states.. The dust bowl was the area where it stopped raining and humongous dust started hitting the area and sending dust flying in to peoples houses. The farmers and there families started migrating to California but when they got there the Californians didn't want the Okies because they didn't have enough jobs and didn't want the Okies in California to start taking the Californians jobs away. In the middle states that were being affected by the dust storms., they called those years the dirty thirties.

The relationship between the drought and the farms that live it the dust bowl is cause by many reason. One thing that state it is from the book called children of the Dust it says ¨ One day the wind started to blow¨ This tells you that because of the drought the sand did not stay on the ground, it become the dust bowl. This happen because of no water. So if the sand and the crops got no water they would go into the air and started it. This would also not help by the health because there would be no water and also because the dust would go into the body and hard to breath. So it would make it even harder to live outside

The relationship between the drought, the farmers, and the dust bowl is the farmers couldn't grow crops because of the drought, and dust bowl which caused the farmers to have less money so they can't move away from the dust bowl witch could be deadly. "the farmers were caught in an impossible situation. They where already suffering from the effects of the great depression, witch had started in 1929 when the stock market had collapsed." this shows that the farmers where in a bad situation when the drought happened and then on top of it the dust bowl was happening the crops were still dry, and dead, then sand gets into the crops and makes them sandy and mushy "they had to herd their cows into the barn they had outside, tie down farm equipment and whatever supplies they had outside, then run for cover." this shows that farmers had to get the animals to safety tie down anything outside and then run for cover this is because the drought led to the dust bowl which caused animals to die humans to die and for lots of farming supplies were lost.

The relationship between the drought and farmers in the Dust Bowl is, how the Dust Bowl made it much, much harder to survive in Oklahoma. The drought, for example , did not at all help the farmers. The Dry Farmers used rain for their farming. But, since it has stopped raining and hasn't rained continuously for 5 years. That made it difficult for them to get their water supply. The drought made everything way worse. The drought left a lot of families and Okies without farms which led them to starvation because the bank took away their farm and chance of food. Without water the farmers couldn't feed their families and they had to eat, "...biscuits, beans, and fried jack." This diet might not last long if the drought continues onward for too long. The drought

The relationship between the dust bowl an the drought is that Farmers were not able to grow plants from the drought which then led to the dust bowl. The dust bowl had powerful winds. They are similar because they both had negative impact on the Okies. Because they weren't able to grow plants from the drought they were extremely low on money and were becoming homeless. The text said, " When the prices of their crops fell, many couldn't make payments to the bank that held title to their land." This shows that they are poor because they are not able to pay for their homes by selling crops. Soon hard winds blew causing the dust bowl. The dry soil was picked up and carried by the wind. The text says, "The wind blew dry soil into the air, and every morning the sun rose only to disappear behind a sky of red dirt and dust. The wind knocked open doors, shattered windows, and leveled barns." This shows that It harmed the Okies. This is why I believe the dust bowl and drought are related because they both had negative impact on the Okies.

The relationship between the drought and the farmers in the dust bowl was that it was almost impossible to make money. Some evidence that supports this is "Cornstalks in the field shriveled from the sizzling heat, shoots of wheat dried up and fell to the ground." So the problem is that wheat and corn was almost all they could grow here so If the thing that did not already make much due to the great depression were to go away completely these people would be miserable. Some more relationships between the farmers and the drought is that there was no water. I do not know what they even drank but they did not have any devices to bring water to them so if you do not drink water, you are not going to do so great but hey they had milk so maybe there was a chance.

The relationships and the drought was that they both caused this terrible time for the Okies. I know this because on page 4 it said," It hadn't rained more than a drop in panhandle for 5 straight years." This shows that the drought also made life bad for the Okies because they had no water to farm with. The humans made it worse by digging up the grass for farming I know this because, " These people had small family farms and were called dry farmers.' So these people pulled up the grass to farm but when their crops died the soil was taken by the wind henceforth causing the Dust Bowl.

The relationship beetween the drought and the farmers in the dust bowl is that the drought caused the farmers to be broke because all of the crops and that the drought caused the farmers to lose all of their land because they had no money to pay the bank.I know this because on page 3 it says " when the prices for their crops fell, many couldn't make payments to the banks that had title to their land" also on page 10 it says" When a farmer couldn't pay the bank, a tractor was sent to knock down his farmhouse as a way of forcing him to leave the land-tractored out, they called it." quote one proves that the drought caused the farmers to be broke because all of the crops that died because it shows that the crops died so they couldn't get money to pay the bank. Quote two proves that the drought caused the farmers to lose all of their land because they had no money to pay the bank because it shows that they had no money and it shows how they would lose their land.

The drought caused people to lose money and the wind caused their crops to die and the wid takig the soil to cause the dust bowl.
