         <description><![CDATA[<div><br><br>Patricia Bath was able to overcome racism and poverty, and become an important contributing member to the ophthalmology medical field. She was the first woman on faculty at the Eye institute. She also founded the American Institute for the Prevention of Blindness. Bath invented the Laserphaco Probe, which is a device that improves on the use of lasers to remove cataracts. Lastly, she also devised a method for using ultrasound technology to treat cataracts.</div>]]></description>
