9 Billion chickens were raised, killed and eaten in the US in 2006. Norah Smith, a chicken farmer, raises chicken for work. When they're ready, she sends them to a slaughter house to be killed. In the US chickens are brought to a slaughter house in massive crates and are taken out and hung on moving chains by their feet, once they're hung they get dipped into an electrical bath which is supposed to "Knock them out." About 1 in every 100 birds dodge this by flapping their wings or moving their neck, after this they are brought to a spinning blade which should slit there throat, still, birds manage to dodge it, the final killer is a pool of boiling water they're dipped into to kill them off and remove their feathers. No bird has survived it. In the UK birds are left in there crates and they are knocked out by a gas and killed. It seems a lot more peaceful then what happens here.

Norah smith is a chicken farmer in West Virginia for Tyson's slaughterhouses. All of the chickens she raised had to be raised in the exact way that Tyson's slaughterhouses wanted them to be raised in a way that would make them mature as fast as possible. They were sent to the chicken farm as baby chicks, they stayed at the farm for about 30 days and then they were sent back to the slaughter houses to be eaten. The foods that the chickens were eating was whatever was cheap and fattening. So sometimes chickens were being fed waste from the slaughter houses. Sometimes even leftover chicken meat such as the head, this made them cannibals.

During the time period of McDonald's peak popularity. chicken was rapidly becoming more popular than beef and pork. And McDonald's being a hamburger restaurant needed to come up with a radical new chicken dish. So a bird that was once a delicacy soon became something that you could eat on the go. And so began the dark series of events that led to the birth of McDonald's chicken Nugget. You most likely know about the chicken nugget, but what you didn't know was that McDonald's has its own breed of chicken. They are called Mr. McDonald's. McDonald's was in business with Tyson's slaughterhouses. So the baby chickens were brought to the farm and within 30 days those chickens are fatter than most chickens ever get their whole lives. Mr. McDonald's are known for their unnaturally large breasts, they are sometimes so large that the chickens have trouble walking and major back problems

This passage shows the horrifying ways that McDonald's gets its chicken from the farm to the restaurant. Not only are the chickens being fed fattening and chemical filled foods, the workers also abuse them for recreational purposes. Its sad to hear about or see these chickens being abused.
