Designers must consider a big range of limitations and implications that will affect their design. the biggest and most important limitation for designers is finance. Finance is important because its the fuel of the project, the designer needs to know what the client can afford. For the design stage to move smoothly the designer needs to design what the client wants but most importantly what the client can afford. for example if the client wanted a particular paint or flooring and it was over the budget the designer would need to talk to the client and then either up the budget or make another agreement.

Environmental restraints in construction is forever growing in a rapid way. In recent years the push for more eco friendly and green construction has been pushed down on designers by the government by new regulations and guidelines being introduced e.g. 2020 project which aims to reduce carbon emissions by 2020 (construction takes up a large percentage of the UK's whole carbon emissions. There has also been a huge push to make sure more and more sustainable materials are used e.g. timber. Sustainability means taking to meet the needs of the present without compromising the needs of the future generations. Designers have to implement sustainable materials in their projects as much as possible, this can influence the entire design its self e.g. making sure the house is south facing, making sure glass is sued so more natural lighting is made most of.
