In recent years the push for more eco friendly and green construction has been pushed down on designers by the government by new regulations and guidelines being introduced e.g. 2020 project which aims to reduce carbon emissions by 2020 (construction takes up a large percentage of the UK's whole carbon emissions. There has also been a huge push to make sure more and more sustainable materials are used e.g. timber. Sustainability means taking to meet the needs of the present without compromising the needs of the future generations.
