A piece of evidence that supports this claim would be "The city seen from the Queensboro Bridge is always the city seen for the first time, in its first wild promise of all the mystery and the beauty in the world." The passage from chapter 4 helps support this definition in a few ways. It shows a vast diversity of people like southwestern European, white chauffer , haughty people , etc. The passage gives the white chauffer as an example of "success and prosperity".
