         <description><![CDATA[<p>Ira Aldridge is from New York City, New York.</p><p><br/></p><p>He lived from 1807 - 1867 and died at the age of 60.</p><p><br/></p><p>Ira Aldridge was known as the first African-American tragedian. He’s an American born actor who portrays Shakespeare characters. HE also was a theatre manager and playwright.&nbsp; He performed in the first African-American Theater company, named William Brown’s African Theatre.          <description><![CDATA[<p>Mary Seacole was born in Kingston, Jamaica.</p><p><br/></p><p>She lived from 1805 - 1881 and died at the age of 75.</p><p><br/></p><p>Mary Seacole was a nurse in the Crimean War. She cared for British soldiers as and was an example for the African-American community and the world that it doesn’t matter your skin color, you still can help. Mary also established a hotel for the sick and needy. It was in Balaclava and would take British Soldiers there.          <description><![CDATA[<p>Mansa Musa was born in the Mali Empire.</p><p><br></p><p>He lived from 1280 - 1337 and died at the age of 57.</p><p><br></p><p>Mansa Musa was the emperor of the Mali Empire. He developed cities such as Timbuktu. He made the Empire of Mali into a well sophisticated empire. Musa also donated and gave away so much money and gold to the poor.          <description><![CDATA[<p>Nzinga Mbande was born in Angola.</p><p><br/></p><p>She lived from 1583 - 1663 and died at the age of 80</p><p><br/></p><p>Nzinga Mbande stood up to European colonists and helped stop slave trading. She was a queen&nbsp; and had power. She stopped the evil European colonizers that wanted to come into Africa. When they wanted to come in they also wanted slaves and she held firm and wouldn’t sell to them.
