The Road Not Taken by Robert Frost

TWO roads diverged in a yellow wood, |
And sorry I could not travel both |
And be one traveler, long I stood |
And looked down one as far as I could |
To where it bent in the undergrowth; | 5

Then took the other, as just as fair, |
And having perhaps the better claim, |
Because it was grassy and wanted wear; |
Though as for that the passing there |
Had worn them really about the same, | 10

And both that morning equally lay |
In leaves no step had trodden black. |
Oh, I kept the first for another day! |
Yet knowing how way leads on to way, |
I doubted if I should ever come back. | 15

I shall be telling this with a sigh |
Somewhere ages and ages hence: |
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I— |
I took the one less traveled by, |
And that has made all the difference. | 20

Appreciation:
This poem is about a man or woman who comes across a fork in the forest. He/She has to make a decision and he/ she decides to take the road less traveled by. I appreciate this poem because it beautifully captures an experience that we all have. All individuals make choices in their lives and it does take great courage to choose a pathway that is less traveled.

Some elements contributing to the value of this poem include language techniques such as imagery. The term "yellow" used to describe the wood, makes it feel like a warm place where all things flourish. The description of the "undergrowth" that is visible seems very symbolic. The lush forest represents how our life is full of opportunity and full of the unknown.

The poem overall creates a tranquil atmosphere and inspires individuals to take a different pathway in life. I would recommend this poem to all of 8G, especially those of us who may be feeling confronted with decisions in life. Do something different! You never know what you will discover!

Let Go
What do I do,
When I'm still in love with you?
You walked away,
'Cause you didn't want to stay.
You broke my heart, you tore me apart.
Every day I wait for you,
Telling myself our love was true.
But when you don't show, more tears start to flow.
That's when I know
I have to let go.

Source: http://www.familyfriendpoems.com/poem/let-go-11

1) The poem we've chosen (let go) is a poem that focuses on love that was crushed or love that wasn't even there in the first place. The author wrote this poem to dedicate it to people that had their heart broken because she was also a victim from denied love. The author fell in love with her best friend but the feelings weren't returned, so she wrote this short poem for people that had their heart broken because they need to let it go.
2) I appreciate this poem because of the simplicity it gives to people. By simplicity I mean it lets people understand it fully without it being misinterpreted. Another reason is the imagery that it gives to people. When we read through the poem it let us, the audience, picture how strong the love the author had and the pain and sadness the author had to suffer. The final reason is that the repetition the author used, the author used repetition because she is trying to emphasize that even though it hurts a lot you have to let it go whether you like it or not.
3) We would recommend this poem to anyone that has trouble moving on at a certain stage in their life. It gives the message that no matter how strong the love that the person has, it can only go so far until it breaks apart
LolTyler1
Jin Han and Felix.

My mirror is broken, or at least it seems to be,
for today I discovered an old man staring back at me.

The face I recognized,
But he had hair of gray, and there were wrinkles around the eyes.

I waved. I rubbed the mirror with my sleeve.
No matter what I tried, he simply wouldn't leave.

This can't be me, I thought. I am much more svelte.
Just look at the way the belly hangs over his belt!

I also thought it was very queer.
The hair stopped growing atop his head and was growing out of each ear!

Who was this imposter, and what is he doing there,
this man of age with silver in his hair?

Why is my mirror doing this to me?
Having this old man staring back at me?

By - Rick Hunter

1) This poem is about how fast we grow up, and once we take the time to look into the mirror we finally realize it and come to face the facts. We appreciate this poem because it is very sweet and tells us how it is.

2) 3 reasons why we appreciate this poem;
- Rhyme is a prominent feature in this poem as it flows well.
- Imagery is also used to describe his appearance "But he had hair of grey and wrinkles around his eyes."
- This poem stays true to the reader and tells it how it is. It a life experience which the reader can relate to, if not now, further in life.

3) We recommend this poem to all ages as it is a reminder to everybody how fast time goes by and that we don't realise it.

REVIEW ON ~
'A BROKEN FRIENDSHIP'
We believe that this poem is focused on a tearing friendship, where one person has changed in a negative light (backstabbing, betraying). The friend wished and cried that her friend wouldn't have changed like this but she has come to admit that their friendship has broken.

We appreciate this poem because many people have gone through/can relate to this experience. It is an unfortunate event that many people face but have to push through and make the right decision by letting some friendships end for the right reason.
