The most memorable "reflection" experience for me was in 2013 at a student festival in Russia. We had students from almost 60 countries attending. I ran a workshop titled "Understanding Cultures". We got the participants to pair up with another participant who came from a place that had difficult relations with their own country. The discussed stereotypes, prejudices and hate speech that they commonly see in their own home targeted at their partner's country. We had a reflection session on what they have learnt from each other. The end of the workshop did not stop the participants - they continued the discussions and reflections late until the night.

The most memorable reflection is when the facilitator made us to use one image to illustrate our reflection on the course. We will then explain our reflection based on the significance of the image.

It was AY 2018 when we first introduced S-L in our Gerontology and community module (GCN). The students had to interview the senior citizens in their communities and to describe and reflect on an experience using DEAL. Prior S-L, the students' perception of senior citizens is that they are often inactive and sickly. However, after the S-L experience, not only that their misconception was corrected, some of the students reflected that the senior citizens were mentally and physically stronger than them. I even know of a few students since then have volunteered in senior citizens corner. Upon reflection of the hard work the teaching team had initiated to introduce S-L in the GCN module, it was worth it.

I once took an introductory acting course in university where we had to practice doing emotional monologues. The instructor assigned each of us an emotion (e.g. heartbreak) and made us trawl through our memory for a corresponding incident that most triggered that emotion. We were supposed to use that memory as an emotional anchor for our scene.

I organized an activity to reflect on the issue of inclusion and exclusion during the Covid situation. Students took on different persona's and then after the debate was over, each student had to write their reflections in a menti.com tool. They had opportunities to also create a word cloud and the word - deconstruction- loomed large.

Brought a group of 35 students to experience the Japanese culture and language. The most memorable moment is to stay 2D1N @ traditional Japanese Inn or Ryokan @ Hakone. Students experienced the public onsen or hot spring and stayed 1 night at the tatami rooms, served with local Japanese breakfast and dinner. Students built bonding among themselves over a night of karaoke together.
