This TEKS is easily related to the student driven learning TED talk because with this TEKS students take the lead in exploring the world around them. Then they take the lead on asking questions and seeking the answers to those questions. Students like being able to have some sort of say on what they do. Give them freedom with a little bit of guidance, but be careful not to be too micromanaging.

My thoughts on the teachers aligning their content with the TEKS

I think aligning all your content with the TEKS isn’t the way to go. When you focus so much on the TEKS you only have that in your head. There are other things to talk about that pertain to real life situations but also connect to the TEKS without aligning everything you teach with what the state tells you to teach. I had teachers like that throughout school that you could tell their content wasn’t creative, it was just directly out of the content the TEKS told them to teach. Those classes were my least favorite classes because it was always just lecturing and very little interactive learning.
