As of today there are two known Herondale family bloodlines, one stems from Tobias Herondale. A shadowhunter from the 1800. The others stems from his brother William 

The known descendants of Tobias’ line are Ephraim, Roland, Rosemary, and Christopher(Kit). While on his brother Williams side the descendants are Edmund, Ella, Will, Cecily, James, Lucy, Owen, Marcus, Stephen and Jace.

Distant relatives of the Herondale family are the Lightwoods, Carstairs and Blackthorns.

A peculiar trait that has been passed down through the males in William Herondales bloodline is that they bear star-shaped marks on their shoulders from birth. However this only began after Will Herondale can into contact with the angel Ithuriel, meaning Edmund nor William possessed the mark; unlike the rest of the bloodline.
