Comics as a tool to learn a language.

In order to learn a new language (in this case Spanish), we can create some comics for the kids. They are easy to read and they can have basic vocabulary or grammar. However, this comics books are related to their context. We can create stories that are more relevant to them. ( Stories about their daily lives, customs/traditions or their beliefs). First of all, I would invite the children going outside for a walk in a little wood or garden full of nature. Then, I would do breathing exercises to be a little bit more receptive and calm. Soon after, I would ask them to close their eyes and listen, then observing everything attentively. Afterwards, I would invite them to the classroom and provide them with materials to do a painting to express everything: the emotions they felt the feelings nature inspired on them ,their favorite plants with their wonderful colours and their connection with nature. When finished they would have to socialize their painting in order. To conclude, I would ask them why is nature important for human being.

Taking as a theme the care of nature, although it sounds old-fashioned I would like my class (where there are children from 5 to 11 years old) to show their love with the environment that surrounds them, therefore I would like to plant various types of flowers or plants with fruits that connect them with nature.
In addition, they will be taking care of them and keeping a virtual record (can be use canva to generate a collage and with the help of their parents) in order to share it through an educational page on which everyone in the school can have access to observe and comment on these care.
Finally, with the help of various didactic materials such as videos (it could be nice to use the serie "Heidi") and images look for conclusions, feelings and thoughts that are generated before, during and after the activity of caring for a living being.

In order to make communication a tool that can create new spaces for interaction, i would think of spanish as a SECOND LANGUAGE, meaning that they wold have the opportunity of communicating with people outside of their community, but not leaving behind their own language or costums.
It would be a good idea to create a space with different kind of interactions where they could use both languages.
As a teacher i would put the name of the things in spanish, but also (with the help of the community) the name of the things in their native language, so they would have the opportunity to learn slowly associating words and actions.

I suggest a project in groups in which students make a kind of herbarium/diary in which they draw plants that catch their attention, write the name of each one, their characteristics, uses and what each one makes them feel (taking into account count its color, texture, smell) The idea is that if they don't know this information, they can ask their peers, relatives or members of the community.
