There is a direct night train connection from Bucharest to Vienna.

In summer, there is as well a direct night train from Istanbul to Bucharest which can be booked either via Romanian or Turkish railways. I was traveling in winter, so I took the night train from Istanbul to the Bulgarian border and had to take some regional trains through Bulgaria to come to Bucharest. It was not possible to book these tickets online, but there was an open counter (even at 4 am in the morning) selling the tickets at the local train station at Dimitowgrad and it was even possible to pay by card.

Most likely (by 2022) only works one way (from Nicosia to Vienna), as immigrating to Cyprus via the northern occupied part is not really legal and there is no boat from southern Cyprus to Turkey. During summer, there is a boat to Greece though, but it only started operating in 2022 and takes >30h.
