After receiving some basic medical training, she set out to help the sick and needy. Mother Teresa would often wash poor people and teach others to read and write. This kind soul even opened the first American charity dedicated to helping homeless and sick people. Mother Teresa was known for making the world a better place and putting others' needs before her own.
