The Force Publique was the Belgian Army and volunteers/slaves from Africa. They were the people who enforced the people being exploited to do their work. They were responsible for doing the killing the 10,000,000 Congolese people because of torture, hostage taking, rape, and even more.

“You preserved your own life by committing atrocities: beating with a chicotte, torture, and rape were apart of their daily repertoire.” This was part of the people’s daily schedule and they did not care that people were being hurt by it. They were hurting people without caring what was happening. Not to mention that these things are illegal so not only were they doing horrible things but they were doing them illegally. And to prove that the Force Pulique was killing the rebels they had to bring back the right hand of every man they killed. But the soldiers wanted to go hunting so they cut off the hands of their workers. This was also torturous because most of the time the workers were not given treatment on their hands and the hands would become infected and they would die from the infections, proving that they were really horrible.

You killed people who were being exploited” They were responsible for killing most of the people during the time period, most of whom did not know why it was happening because they were being exploited for labor. Most of the people killed or that were working did not know what was happening because of the language barrier. They did not know that they were signing themselves off for labor which is horrible.
