Display

1. The deepening of the digital economy: data has become a key production factor, and digital technology (cloud computing, big data, Internet of Things) is deeply integrated with traditional industries, giving rise to new business forms. Platform economy (such as e-commerce, online car-hailing) and part-time economy have become important components.

2. Web3.0 and the ownership revolution: Based on blockchain technology, digital currency, NFT and DAO have emerged, aiming to build a "user-owned" Internet.

3. Exploration of the metaverse: VR, AR and other technologies create immersive digital spaces for socializing, entertainment, work and business. Digital Twin technology is used to simulate and optimize objects and processes in the real world in the industrial field.

Reason

1. Technical maturity: the continuous development and cost decline of underlying technologies such as blockchain, VR/AR, artificial intelligence, 5G/6G, etc.

2. Catalysis of the epidemic: The COVID-19 pandemic has forced people to accept remote work, online entertainment and virtual socialization, accelerating the popularity of digital life.

3. Driven by capital and giants: Large technology companies (such as Meta, Microsoft, Apple and Tencent) invest heavily in metaverse-related technologies in an attempt to define and occupy the next generation of Internet access. Venture capital has poured into the fields of Web3.0 and encryption.

4. Dissatisfaction with the current Internet: People are dissatisfied with the problems of centralized platform control data, privacy leakage and unfair revenue distribution. Web3.0 provides a vision of another solution.

Affect

1. Economic impact:

· New markets and opportunities: create new digital goods, services and jobs (such as virtual real estate developers and NFT artists).

· Business model change: from "owning physical objects" to "owning digital content" and access rights, subscription system and Token economy may be more popular.

2. Social impact:

· Reshaping social and identity: People may have online digital identity to socialize and live in the virtual world.

· The digital divide is widening: the ability to access technology and digital assets may cause new social inequality.

3. Challenges and risks:

· Regulatory lag: Cryptocurrency fraud, NFT speculative bubbles, data privacy and virtual crime and other issues pose challenges to the existing legal system.

· Reality alienation: Excessive immersion in the virtual world may cause mental health problems.

Source

https://www.mckinsey.com/capabilities/growth-marketing-and-sales/our-insights/value-creation-in-the-metaverse

Blind Box become more and more popular in many industry

Blind boxes can be considered a trend. The blind box craze has swept across young consumers in many countries.

Origin and Core Model

The concept of limited-edition boxes originated from "gacha" in Japan and "surprise dolls" in the United States.

However, in China, it was further developed to its fullest by companies like "POP MART", forming a mature "IP + box-opening + social interaction" business model. The core of this model is:

Uncertainty & Surprise: Before making the purchase, consumers have no idea which specific product is inside.

Collectibility & Settability: Usually, a series consists of several regular products and one (or several) extremely rare "hidden editions", which encourages consumers to make repeated purchases in order to collect the complete set.

Social attributes: An active exchange, transaction and discussion community has been formed through offline vending machines, online communities, and second-hand trading platforms (such as Xianyu and eBay).

It economy has experienced rapid growth in recent years, demonstrating strong vitality and broad development prospects, as evidenced by the following aspects:

Expanding market scale: The global blind box market is expected to exceed 120 billion yuan by 2025, with China accounting for over 60%. The user base has reached 280 million, among which Generation Z contributes 85% of consumption, spending more than 3,000 yuan annually on average, indicating robust market demand.

Widening consumer base: Blind boxes initially appealed mainly to young people, particularly those born in the 1990s and 2000s. However, their consumer base is now expanding, gradually encompassing consumers of all age groups.

Diversifying product categories: Blind boxes have expanded from their initial domains of toys and stationery to cover multiple fields such as beauty products, catering, cultural tourism, and digital collectibles. They have even integrated deeply with metaverse and AI technologies, forming a composite business model featuring "random consumption + social entertainment + emotional sustenance".

Innovating marketing models: The "blind box +" model has become a new marketing method. For example, "blind box + cultural tourism" combines blind boxes with cultural and tourism resources by launching travel blind boxes and cultural and creative blind boxes, attracting a large number of consumers.

Strengthening social attributes: Blind boxes possess strong social attributes. Consumers can communicate, share, and exchange with others through blind boxes, forming unique social circles.

Related links: https://m.163.com/dy/article/K92V591O0514CDBK.html

http://www.news.cn/fashion/20240821/fe64cf0ec5d14021bfdcab47ec6a4d1c/c.html

Great changes in population structure: aging and regional imbalance

Display

1. General aging: The proportion of people over 65 years old in the world continues to rise rapidly, the number of working-age population in many countries (such as Japan, Germany, Italy, China and South Korea) has absolutely decreased, and the elderly support ratio has deteriorated.

2. Regional imbalance:

· Low fertility areas: The total fertility rate in developed regions such as Europe and East Asia is generally lower than the replacement level of 2.1, and the fertility rate in some countries (such as South Korea) is the lowest in the world.

· High fertility areas: The fertility rate in sub-Saharan Africa and other places is high, and the population structure is very young.

Reason

1. The aging fertility rate continues to decline (due to economic development, education improvement, urbanization, and high childcare costs) and the significant increase in life expectancy per capita.

2. Regional imbalance: global economic development is uneven. Developed areas have entered the stage of low fertility, while many developing countries are still in the stage of rapid population growth with "high birth rate and low mortality rate".

Affect

1. To the aging society:

· Economy: resulting in labor shortage, pressure on the pension system, and a sharp increase in health care expenditure.

· Society: It is necessary to delay the retirement age to give rise to the "silver-haired economy", and the family's pension function is weakened.

2. Regional imbalance:

· Global migration: Wealthy countries with labor shortages attract immigrants from young and well-poped areas, exacerbating the global migration wave and socio-cultural conflicts.

· Geopolitical pattern: If you invest in education and employment in Africa and other places, you will get the "population dividend" and become a growth engine; if you fail, you may face social turmoil.

Source

https://www.un.org/development/desa/pd/content/World-Population-Prospects-2022

https://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-china-64323490

https://www.afdb.org/en/news-and-events/creating-decent-jobs-strategies-africas-youthful-population-59363

The impact of the rapid growth of crypto assets on global financial stability

The content of this summary is very comprehensive, primarily elaborating on the risks faced by the financial industry against the backdrop of high inflation and global central bank interest rate hikes, while also proposing corresponding policy recommendations. Additionally, the report particularly emphasizes the critical role of private climate financing for emerging markets and developing economies, as well as the liquidity risks associated with open-ended investment funds.

Risks and Challenges：

1. Severe Environment: Global inflation is at multi-decade highs, and economic prospects are deteriorating. Central banks are forced to rapidly tighten monetary policy to curb inflation and maintain their credibility.

2. Increased Financial Fragility: Highly indebted governments and non-bank financial institutions, such as insurance companies, are under significant pressure, with rising interest rates exacerbating their balance sheet risks.

3. Real Estate: Rising mortgage rates and tighter lending standards have placed the real estate market in crisis, with overvalued markets potentially leading to a collapse of the banking system.

4. Banking Sector and Corporations: Although the global banking sector is well-capitalized, IMF stress tests indicate that under severe recession scenarios, 29% of emerging market banks could face capital shortfalls. Corporate sector profits are being eroded, credit spreads are widening, and the number of small business bankruptcies is increasing.

Policy Recommendations：

1. For Central Banks: Formulate corresponding policies to restore price stability and guide market expectations through clear communication to avoid volatility.

2. For Exchange Rate Policy: Maintaining exchange rate flexibility is crucial, but foreign exchange interventions may be implemented when necessary to address financial stability risks.

3. For Debt Issues: Emerging and frontier markets should engage with creditors early and utilize multilateral tools such as the G20 Common Framework for preventive debt restructuring to avoid disorderly defaults.

https://www.imf.org/zh/Publications/GFSR/Issues/2022/10/11/global-financial-stability-report-october-2022

Generative AI refers to algorithms that can create novel content based on training data, from writing human-like text to generating images, music and even software code. While AI has evolved steadily over the years, generative AI shot into public consciousness between 2022 and 2023 with user-friendly tools. Notably, OpenAI's chatbot ChatGPT reached 100 million users just two months after its launch, a record adoption rate. Ordinary people and businesses alike are experimenting with applications, such as artificial intelligence assistants for drafting emails and reports, art generators and coding aids. On the domestic front. From the access of Wenxin Yiyan in 2023 to the application of DeepSeek in 2025, mainstream media realized major reporting innovations through GenAI, such as Xinhua News Agency's " AIGC Painting China" series, in which man-machine collaborative programming became the mainstream, AI handled the underlying code execution, and human beings focused on top-level design.

related links:https://intelligence.weforum.org/topics/a1Gb0000000pTDREA2

According to the 2023 - 2024 wildfire status report, the probability of extreme fire seasons has increased significantly due to man-made climate change, with the likelihood of high fire weather increasing 2.9 to 3.6 times in Canada and 20 to 28.5 times in the Amazon region. Wildfires release huge amounts of carbon, creating a self-perpetuating cycle that causes further warming. In 2023, Canada's wildfire emissions exceeded the total carbon emissions of all countries except China, the United States and India. This dangerous feedback loop threatens global climate goals. Human-driven changes in land use - for example, urban expansion, agriculture, industrial development and deforestation - are major contributors to changing wildfire behaviour.

related links:https://intelligence.weforum.org/topics/a1GTG000001Rbt72AC

The London Underground strike

This strike is a local symptom of broader global patterns affecting post-pandemic economies and labor relations.

1. Specifics of the Event:

· What Happened: A full strike on the London Underground and DLR from September 9-11, causing severe city-wide disruption.

· Main Demands: A pay increase and a reduction in the standard workweek.

· Sticking Point: TfL offered a 3.4% pay raise but rejected the shorter workweek, deeming it financially unviable. The union found this unacceptable.

2.Key Global Trends Reflected:

· Cost-of-Living Crisis: The demand for a pay raise, despite relatively high salaries, is a direct response to high inflation eroding real income. This is a primary driver of labor disputes worldwide, from the U.S. to Germany.

· Re-evaluation of Work/Life Balance: The core demand to reduce the workweek from 35 to 32 hours signals a shift in labor priorities from pure compensation to well-being and work-life balance. This aligns with global movements like the "four-day week" trials and "quiet quitting."

· Strained Public Finances: TfL's refusal, citing unaffordability, highlights the severe financial pressures on public transit systems. Many are struggling with reduced post-pandemic ridership and funding, creating a conflict between maintaining services, investing in infrastructure, and meeting workforce demands.

· Resurgent Union Power: The RMT union's ability to organize disruptive action demonstrates the strengthened role of organized labor in negotiating for better terms during periods of economic uncertainty and worker scarcity.

3. Impacts:

· Immediate: Major disruption for millions of commuters and economic productivity loss for London.

· Strategic: Increased pressure on TfL and the government to find a solution that addresses both financial sustainability and worker welfare.

· Social: Divided public opinion between frustration over disruption and sympathy for workers' rights.

Relevant Information LinksRMT Union (Strike Organizer): https://www.rmt.org.uk/

Transport for London - TfL (Employer):https://tfl.gov.uk/info-for/media/press-releases

BBC London: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/england/london

The Normalization of Remote and Hybrid Work in the Post-Pandemic Era

The normalization of remote and hybrid work has emerged as a prominent trend in the post-pandemic era. Below is an analysis of this trend:

I. Core Driving Factors: Why Has It Become the Norm?

Driven by employee demand: After the pandemic, employee demand for remote and hybrid work has surged significantly. According to a survey by the National School of Development at Peking University, nearly 60% of job seekers reported higher satisfaction with remote work experiences. Over 90% hoped to work remotely for at least one day a week, while 50% desired remote work for at least three days weekly. Additionally, a global research report by BSI indicated that 37% of respondents worldwide preferred the hybrid work model, with Chinese respondents showing the highest preference globally at 47%.

Enterprise adaptation and transformation: During the pandemic, numerous companies were forced to shift some positions to remote work. Having experienced its benefits, many have continued to post recruitment demands for such roles. Meanwhile, the rapid growth of the online digital economy has spurred the emergence of new companies, creating more positions suitable for remote work. Industries such as internet, digitalization, and knowledge-based sectors—where job content and nature align with remote work requirements—have become the primary sources of remote work vacancies.

Enhanced technical support: With the continuous advancement of information technology, the maturity of video conferencing software, collaborative tools, and other technologies has made remote and hybrid work more convenient and efficient. Employees can use these tools for real-time communication and collaboration with colleagues to complete tasks, reducing reliance on physical office spaces.

Pursuit of work-life balance: Remote and hybrid work models help employees better balance work and life. They save time and costs on commuting, gain more time to accompany family and attend to household needs, and can flexibly arrange work hours based on personal requirements—improving both work efficiency and quality of life. BSI’s research showed that 59% of remote/hybrid workers cut expenses by eliminating commutes, and work-life balance became the top career motivation, accounting for 49%.

Enterprise cost and benefit considerations: For enterprises, remote and hybrid work models can reduce costs related to office space leasing, equipment procurement, and more. Simultaneously, these models help attract and retain talent, boost employee job satisfaction and loyalty, and thereby enhance corporate competitiveness and efficiency.

II. Multidimensional Impact: What Changes Has This Brought?

Impact on Companies:

Management Model Transformation: A shift from process management (focusing on employees' "face time" in the office) to results-based management (focusing on goals and output). This poses new demands on managers' capabilities.

Cultural Reshaping: How to build and maintain a strong corporate culture, foster a sense of belonging and team cohesion becomes a new challenge. Requires more deliberate organization of online/offline social and cultural activities.

Flatter Organizational Structures: Communication and collaboration rely more on tools and projects themselves, potentially accelerating the flattening of organizational structures.

Cybersecurity: Distributed work poses significant challenges to corporate data security and cybersecurity systems, requiring more investment.

Impact on Employees:

Blurring of Work-Life Boundaries: This is both an advantage and a challenge. It can lead to an "always-on" work mode, causing burnout. Requires stronger self-discipline and boundary management skills from employees.

Career Development and Visibility: Remote employees might worry about being "out of sight, out of mind," missing out on promotion and training opportunities. Companies need to establish fairer, more transparent evaluation and promotion mechanisms.

Changing Skill Requirements: Higher demands on employees' asynchronous communication skills, written communication skills, self-time management skills, and digital tool proficiency.

Impact on Society and Economy:

Commercial Real Estate: Traditional office space demand faces long-term downward pressure, needing to transform into flexible spaces focused on collaborative experience and community.

Urban Layout: A trend towards "de-urbanization" may emerge, with populations dispersing from central cities to suburbs or smaller cities, reshaping regional economic landscapes.

Rise and Fall of Related Industries:

Beneficiaries: SaaS (Software-as-a-Service), cloud computing, cybersecurity, online entertainment, home office equipment, food delivery, and grocery sectors.

Challenged: Downtown catering, retail, commercial real estate, traditional office equipment suppliers.

Digital Divide: May exclude areas with poor network infrastructure and groups with weaker digital skills, potentially exacerbating inequality.

Related links: https://www.sh.chinanews.com.cn/chanjing/2025-05-14/135776.shtml

https://www.joneslanglasalle.com.cn/zh-cn/newsroom/hybrid-working-reaches-an-optimal-point

As Group C, we need to introduce Tencent to teacher and classmates. Tencent is a huge business empire, involving a wide range of industries and fields. At the beginning, we had no way to start, and we needed to introduce it more completely in the shortest possible time. As a result, there is no focus on what we want to show, and each part involved can only be finished in a hurry. Without clear guidance, the group members wasted a lot of time doing a lot of meaningless work, including but not limited to data collection, PPT production, offline discussion, etc.

After we finish the information collection and report PPT production, we will report the current progress to the teacher. After listening to our relevant reports, the teacher provided a lot of revisions: focus on 1-2 of Tencent's most representative products or strategies, instead of summarizing all the contents evenly or trying to introduce all of Tencent Group clearly. The teacher also emphasized that we should not only describe Tencent's products, but also analyze the strategies and reasons behind them. Regarding the speech, the teacher suggested that we should make the speech more interesting, increase the interaction with the audience, and focus on "Why Tencent succeeded" rather than "What Tencent did".

The teacher's feedback makes us truly realize that a good presentation is not only to integrate a large amount of information into the report, but also to introduce the audience into our presentation through clear, interesting and intuitive narratives. The teacher's advice helped us change the general direction of strategy, from a simple "information reporter" to a "storyteller". This is a key turning point in our preparation process.

After absorbing the teacher's opinions, we compared the results made in the previous period and found that there were too many areas that needed to be improved, so we decided to overturn and redo it. Based on the information collected, we decided to summarize it into three things: what is Tencent's development strategy; what are the most typical examples of development strategy; and what impact it has on us. However, it is more challenging than expected to condense a large amount of information into a concise and innovative display. This not only requires us to have a deeper understanding of Tencent, but also to have strong information screening ability. In the process, we have to ask ourselves repeatedly: What is the most core message of Tencent that we want to convey to the audience? Although this process is arduous, it has also significantly improved our critical thinking ability.

After several meetings and discussions, we found many ideological differences and cooperation problems. Including some conflicts of opinion and time conflicts in the content of the report. For example, some group members like behind-the-scenes work and are unwilling to give speeches on stage; there is not unified opinion on "what case to introduce digital strategy"; group members come from different professional branches and different cities, which makes it difficult for us to participate in offline discussions at a unified time. These situations consumed time and energy in the process of cooperation, but in the end, we overcame these difficulties after comparing the schedule of each team member and their respective areas of expertise through online discussion. In terms of time management, we use the after-class time of common classes to hold meetings and discuss together, and use Zoom to discuss online on weekends. In terms of work allocation, we have determined that one member will complete the design and production of PPT and interactive links, one will be responsible for collecting the information and cases required for Tencent's digital strategy in the report, and the remaining three team members will be responsible for the report and interaction on the day of writing their respective speeches before the report. Through this method, the useless work in cooperation has been greatly reduced, so that we can work together in the same direction.

This stage gives us valuable experience in teamwork: effective cooperation is not only about assigning tasks, but also about respecting individual differences, building group consensus, and finding flexible communication methods. For example, regarding the unwillingness of one of the team members to speak on stage, we respected her wishes and assigned her to work in the backstage to give full play to her strengths, which contributed to higher efficiency and saved us a lot of time and energy. This experience made us understand that a successful team is to give full play to the strengths of each member, not to force everyone to follow the established division of labor model.

After clarifying the framework and division of labor, we began to work on our respective work. We have set up a working group to report the current progress at any time, supervise and help each other. During the project, some team members found that the information found before was from social media reports rather than Tencent's official reports. We were worried that these materials would lead to unpredictable risks in the later work because they were not authoritative, so we immediately stopped the PPT production and adjusted the direction and content in time to prevent it waste of time. This incident highlights the importance of team members' mutual supervision within the team. Timely intervention and correction prevented the whole team from deviating. This lesson has given us many new views and understandings of future learning, work and research.

After completing all the reports and PPT production, our group conducted two rehearsal exercises, and many problems were found in the process. The three biggest problems are the speech timeout, the lines are boring and the lack of interactivity. When we rehearsed for the first time, we read the speech for more than 40 minutes without the risk of forgetting words and the duration of the interactive session, which also means that the viewer will feel more boring and tired, and the effect of the speech is greatly reduced. For this reason, we have made a lot of revisions to the speech, adding many metaphors and small cases to make the content more concise and vivid. In order to resonate more with the audience and attract their attention, we also designed many small interactions and game links to make the speech less monotonous. It can be seen that the rehearsal process is very important. It allows us to find many problems that were not found in the preparation stage and the PPT production stage. Through repeated revision and practice, we not only control the speech time, but also significantly improve the fluency and interaction of the presentation. This process makes us deeply understand the truth that "practice makes perfect".

When we watched the reports of other groups as the audience, I was more impressed by the speech of Group E. Their group set up a competition for the whole class to participate. This game greatly enhances the fun and sense of participation, not a simple "project report". This inspired our group's way of giving speeches in the future, and we realized that we could learn from this way to make our speech more interesting. Therefore, after the end of this week's course, our group also referred to this "game" method, added several interactive links to our speech, and improved the audience's sense of participation through interaction and rewards. After the report, it was also confirmed that the links we added were not wrong, which achieved very good results.

Learning from other groups is an unexpected gain. It tells us that excellent works often draw inspiration from other people's achievements. Observing the reporting method of Group E not only helps us improve the display, but also expands our thinking: in future projects, we can try different forms of expression more boldly to improve the effect.

There was also a small incident on the day of the report. Our team leader arrived at the classroom early that day to test the correct font format of the PPT and the normal playback. In the process of testing, it was found that the previously designed interactive link could not be demonstrated normally, so we decided to remake the interactive game. At that time, there were still 20 minutes before the class, and other students also arrived one after another. In order to complete the task of making a new game within 20 minutes, our five team members cooperated tacitly and completed the production and debugging work in time, and the later report also ran perfectly. In the face of unexpected technical problems, none of us panic or blame others. On the contrary, we work together calmly to quickly propose plans and solve problems. This teamwork shown in the crisis is the best proof of our team's growth throughout the project process.

During the whole group project, we had no way to start from facing Tencent's large number of business at the beginning, to determining the core of the speech under the guidance of the teacher. We resolved the differences in cross-professional and cross-city collaboration, and polished the details of the speech in repeated discussions, meetings and rehearsals. This report made me truly realize that clear direction, reasonable division of labor and flexibility are the core of teamwork. What's more profound is that this experience makes us realize that the value of teamwork lies not only in the final result, but also in the experience gained in the process of cooperation. The skills and insights we have gained in the process will undoubtedly benefit us in our future academic and career paths. We are grateful for this learning opportunity and are proud of the results we have achieved together as a team. Thank you for the teacher's careful guidance, and thank you for every team member's all-out efforts. This experience of growing up in exploration is much more meaningful than the results of the report.
