Real World Issue

The real world issue in this book is losing people or someone that's important to. To Ezra this is a bad thing because he went from being the most popular kid in school to a nobody. It may hurt Ezra because he doesn't talk with his friends anymore, also he was one of the most athletic kids in his school, but now no one talks to his but everyone in school talks badly about him. This may affect someone in the real world because this could cause someone to become depressed. Depression can causes you to become very sad especially when you lose a loved one or someone you're really close to it may affect you in many ways. (In the books none of his friends died they all just stopped talking to him and he became an outcast in school and everyone talked badly about him)

Ezra is the one going through the loss although his friends didn't die he pretty much died to them as they all started to ignore him. Also he was in a very bad accident and it was because of the accident his friends stopped talking with him. They never went to the hospital to visit him to see if he was alright they just acted as if nothing happened. Ezra is showing that you could lose everything in a instant but still keep going, you don't need friends or anyone to succeed.

Ezra's was pretty much bullied in school although no one told him things to his face or hit him or did things like that to him, people still said harsh things to him. At least 49% kids in grades 4-12 have reported being bullied at least once in a month. Whereas at other times at least 30.8% have reported it. Bullying is a bad thing because it could mentally and physically hurt someone. Bullying someone could lead them into depression or maybe even committing suicide. Depression affect about 14.8 million American adults, and about 6.7 percent of the population older than 18.
