We would all sit on this rug at the front of the classroom and would take turns reading parts of it out loud. This is also the time I remember reading the Interactive Reader books. I did well in class to the point my teacher recommended me test for the GATE program. I was one of two students in my entire school to pass and be sent to another school my 5th grade year to be in the program. I was among a full classroom of other kids who also liked to read and write. The cool thing to do was to read the Series of Unfortunate Events books at the time so naturally that is what I did. I actually still have the whole collection to this day. The course was centered around Asian food, its origin, how it became popular in the US, and how you can learn from it.
