Are able to construct meaning from instructional messages, including oral, written and graphic communication (Revised Bloom's Taxonomy).

Strip Designer can support students in creating a comic strip using photos to assist students in retelling a story.

This app allows students to import maps, photos and other images from the iphone devices to support a student in retelling the sequence of events in a novel, scientific procedure, historical event, or the context of any learning task.

Students can choose from a variety of fonts, colors, text balloons, stickers, paper background, frames, and filters to explain and describe the importance of the image.

Students will have to preplan the amount of events they will be describing before choosing their comic strip template.

Students are encouraged to use the different graphics and features of the app to enhance their comic strips and avoid simple stating factual information.

Once finished, students can save their comic strips to their devices and upload or email their devices for teacher viewing.

Retelling events in comic strip format is an effective way to encourage deeper understanding and avoid a traditional paper and pencil approach (Darrow, 2011)!

When students remember they...
Are able to retrieve relevant knowledge from long term memory (Revised Bloom's Taxonomy).

Word BINGO can support students in remembering and recognizing more than 300 sight words.

Using a BINGO format, the students are given a sight word and asked to read the word aloud.

When students recognize a certain amount of words, they receive a BINGO, which allows them to retrieve an animated bug to collect.

Other game with a similar idea are available throughout this app. Additionally, the app provides a transcript of the child's performance after using the app, which could serve as an excellent platform for ongoing, formative assessment (Darrow, 2011).

Are able to carry out or use a procedure in a given situation (Revised Bloom's Taxonomy).

Screen Chomp allows students to document the steps necessary to solve math problems.

Through the use of this app, students are able to record themselves explaining how to solve a math problem of their choice.

In other words, students input a math problem, then begin audio recording a verbal explanation of how to solve each step of the problem.

Next, students are able to video their screen as they complete the problem as well.

The end product, is a completed screencast of the student's problem-solving procedure!

This app encourages students to verbally explain and identify the different procedures they are applying to complete a given math problem.

Analyzing may involve the analyzation of the different elements in content, the analysis of different aspects of the content and the interrelationships with one another, or the analyzation of overall structure and organization of content (Coupal, 2009).

Popplet is an app that supports children in organizing information using imagery, drawing, or writing.

The app supports students in creating diagrams such as flowcharts, mind maps, webs, timelines and outlines.

This specific platform also allows students to work on the same diagram together at the same time.

Students can use this for different activities such as, identifying a specific plant and the different functions of its parts, or sequencing different events in history.

When students effectively evaluate they can judge materials based on standards set by themselves of external sources. This allows students to effectively reach informed decisions.

MomentDiary is an app that allows students to create time stamped notes. Specifically, words can be created using words, photos, audio recordings, or video recordings.

This app is useful for documenting observations that test a hypothesis, or determine whether scientific conclusions are correct.

When notes are recorded, the date and time are precisely recorded as well which supports students in determining the effectiveness of certain procedures or happenings. Additionally, this supports students in determining what is necessary for productive change. Overall, this app helps students make informed judgments and decisions based on observations (Darrow, 2011).

Toontastic is a storytelling app. This app provides the opportunity for students to generate ideas, construct story outlines, and produce unique communicative material to a wide audience.

This app includes different features which sets it aside form other storytelling apps. The features include, flexible graphic organizers, tools for drawing characters, audio recording, and the ability to safely publish the retold story.

The audience feature of this app allows students to safely share their creation with other young storytellers!
