Positive reinforcements are intended to reinforced positive behaviors, making it more likely that the positive behavior will occur in the future. Kellough and Kellough suggest activity or privileged reinforcers, social reinforcers, graphic reinforcers, tangible reinforcers and token reinforcers (p. 105). These include activities such as playing a game, caring for classroom pet, decorating the classroom, being freed without penalty from doing an assignment or test ... private praise... positive rubber stamps... stickers, books... or points/ stars that can be exchanged for 'goods" (Kellough & Kellough, 105). Positive reinforcements will be present in my classroom.

Learning takes place inside and outside of school

Students' outside experiences are invaluable contributors to their learning journey. The classroom is just one aspect of their educational landscape, and the diverse range of experiences they bring from their lives outside school enriches their understanding and perspective. Whether it's their cultural background, personal interests, or real-world encounters, these experiences offer unique insights, foster critical thinking, and ignite curiosity.

When students can draw connections between what they learn in school and their experiences beyond the classroom, the learning becomes more meaningful and applicable. Real-life examples and encounters help bridge the gap between theoretical concepts and practical application. Students can relate abstract ideas to concrete situations, making the learning process more relatable and engaging.

All young people deserve an opportunity to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally in school. Schools, like many systems, may intentionally or unintentionally reinforce discrimination, racism, sexism, ableism etc. I will provide a safe and inclusive space for my students. I am also aware that I have biases - like everyone else. However, in my classroom we will respect everyone and their opinions and accept them for who they are.

I am to have a learning environment that is conductive which is caring and responsive. I will give students the necessary tools to succeed in school and outside of school. One of the main skills I will teach them is to critically think.

"A conductive classroom learning environment is one that is emotionally safe, that helps students to perceive the importance of what is being taught that helps them realize they can achieve and that is instructive in the procedures for doing it." (Kellough & Kellough, p 103).

Since we live in a world that revolves around technology, I will include technology in my lesson plans everyday. All assignments will be posted on Google Classroom so students can easily access if they miss school or need an extra copy. Any formal assignments such as essays will be typed in Google Docs.

In the classroom, I will include videos that work as supplemental information that can help students better understand the topic or content. For some activities students will use online resources to look for primary sources, interviews, virtual tours of historic sites, virtual museums, and much more! Students will also be allowed to use their laptops/chromebook as tools to help them better understand the content.

How can technology help build connection—students with teachers, students with other students, or students with community?

Technology can play a significant role in building connections among students, teachers, and the community. Here are some ways in which technology can facilitate these connections:
1. Communication: Technology provides various communication platforms between students and teachers and can be used to seek guidance, provide feedback, and engage in discussions.

2. Online Collaboration: Technology offers collaborative platforms and tools that allow students to work together on projects, assignments, and group activities. These tools enable students to share ideas, contribute collectively, and engage in meaningful collaboration regardless of their physical locations.

3.Virtual Field Trips and Guest Speakers: Technology enables virtual field trips and brings guest speakers into the classroom, regardless of geographical constraints.

4. Community Engagement and Service-Learning: Technology can facilitate connections between students and the community by providing platforms for community engagement and service-learning projects. Online platforms and apps can connect students with local organizations, nonprofits, or initiatives, allowing them to contribute meaningfully to their community. This interaction promotes empathy, civic responsibility, and a sense of belonging.

Virtual and Augmented Reality: Virtual and augmented reality technologies can transport students to simulated or immersive environments that are otherwise inaccessible. For example, students can explore historical sites such as the Queen of Hawaii's Palace.

Collaboration and Global Connections: Students can connect and collaborate with peers from different cultures, countries, or backgrounds through online platforms, and shared documents.

Multimedia Creation and Expression: Technology empowers students to create and express themselves through multimedia formats such as videos, podcasts, and digital presentations. These digital tools enable students to communicate their ideas, showcase their creativity, and develop digital literacy skills. By actively constructing knowledge and expressing their learning in diverse ways, students experience a transformative shift from passive consumers to active producers of knowledge.

Access to Diverse Resources: Technology provides students with access to a variety of resources. Access to diverse, up-to-date information and perspectives enriches students' learning experiences and encourages independent exploration. (Graber, 2019)
