Germans would force the Africans of the land to grow cotton, wanting exportable commodities instead of the usual payments in cattle, practically at gunpoint. Eventually, people grew angry-- all of this labor would leave them with little time to tend to their own crops and they were badly paid for their work. However, the moment where this rebellion truly started was when Kinjeketile used a sacred pool to attract the pilgrims, as a rallying point. Kinjeketile proclaimed that the  stream would make all of the Africans immune to the bullets of the Germans. Of course, that was not the case, and the Germans undeniably ended the revolt. The European colonizers regarded themselves as racially and culturally superior to the people of Africa. The Africans colonized were Inferior Races to Europe. Social Darwinism influenced Africa Imperialism as it was used to rationalize the need to imperialize such poor/weak nations like Africa, a place where superior leadership was needed, in exchange for the exploitation of Africa's resources, also other political and social factors.
