After exploring different story books with dragons in we realized that dragons were quite similar to dinosaurs. From our see / think / wonder discussion where we talked about what the children had learnt already from our topic, I realized that they had a fantastic ideas about the different creatures encountered in the magical world of fairy tales. 
Amber mentioned that she thought that if she ate strawberries then she would be able to see fairies in the dark. The other children in the group thought that it would be really fun to create a list of different fruits and the powers that it might give them if they ate them. We drew some pictures of what each fruit would do and then the children decided that it would be fun to create the fruits in play-doh. Alongside this the children made models of the creatures that would be revealed when eating the fruits. We laid out our fruits and creatures on large pieces of paper and connected them with lines.
