         <description><![CDATA[<ul><li>Each team will be seated at their own table in good view of the audience and the other team.</li></ul><div> </div><ul><li>Once the room has quieted, Mrs. Craddock will introduce the debate topic and the students representing the sides of the topic.</li></ul><div> </div><ul><li>The team sitting at Table A will have the chance to make their opening statement first. This should be between three and five minutes and should include the team’s position on the assigned issue.</li></ul><div> </div><ul><li>Next, the team sitting at Table B will have the chance to make their opening statement. This should be between three and five minutes and should include the team’s position on the assigned issue.</li></ul><div> </div><ul><li>Team A will then have two minutes to make their first point.</li></ul><div> </div><ul><li>Team B will then have two minutes to rebut Team A’s first point.</li></ul><div> </div><ul><li>Team B will then have two minutes to make their first point.</li></ul><div> </div><ul><li>Team A will then have two minutes to rebut Team B’s first point.</li></ul><div> </div><ul><li>This order will repeat until both teams have had chance to make at least four points. (Each team should have more ready if the debate needs it.)</li></ul><div> </div><ul><li>Once the points have been made and rebutted, Team B will make its closing statement. This should be three to five minutes.</li></ul><div> </div><ul><li>Team A will then have three to five minutes to make their closing statement.</li></ul><div> </div><ul><li>Once all debates are done, the judge or judges will announce the winning side or each debate. The audience will have a chance to vote on a ballot as well. This will be announced as well.</li></ul><div> </div><ul><li>At no time may a person speak without permission to anyone not on his or her team. Mrs. Craddock will inform you of who should be speaking and what they should be doing (opening statement, point, rebuttal, or closing statement). Unlike debates in the classroom, this debate will remain in a formal state.</li></ul><div><br></div>]]></description>
