The cyclops captured him and his men, in a cave. While in the cave, Polyphemus ate 6 sailors. Then, on the second day, Odysseus got Polyphemus drunk, and confused him. Polyphemus called out "Nobody" because he thought that Odysseus' name was nobody. During this ordeal, 5 men stabbed Polyphemus' one eye. Polyphemus called out for help, but help didn't come because he said "nobody" hurt him. Odysseus and the men escaped by clinging to the underbellies of the animals. Lastly, the men escape on a ship. Then, out of pride Odysseus tells Polyphemus his true name. An enraged Polyphemus throws a giant rock towards the ship. But, they escaped and sailed away from the island.
