During the Enlightenment, new astronomical studies came in to view. Before the Enlightenment, the common belief was that the Earth was the center of the of the universe, or an idea called geocentrism. After new ideas arose, the new belief eventually came to be that the Sun was the center of the universe, or the idea of heliocentrism.
2. The Enlightenment brought new thinkers and philisophes, whose ideas were not completely accepted when they first were made public. A good example of this was the idea of heliocentrism, proposed by Nicolaus Copernicus. This idea went against the views of the Catholic Church, who supported geocentrism. Since the Catholic Church was a large power at the time, it took a while for this idea to become the accepted norm.
3. Absolutism was a large part of the Enlightenment. This was the idea and political practice that the king was the utmost power, and nobody came above him.
