The Southwest coast of Africa is one of the driest places on earth. 
This beetle is able to collect water vapor using its back. The beetle collects water through a process called fog-basking. During this process the beetle points its back to the breeze that is carrying tiny dewdrops and waits. This process allows the beetle to collect 12% of its body weight in water.
The back of the beetle is hydrophobic, meaning that it repels water. But, the back is also spotted with hydrophilic bumps, which means that it attracts water. The tiny water droplets from the air are able to attach to the bumps on the back of the beetle to the point where they grow big enough to slide down the beetles back and into its mouth.
