         <description><![CDATA[<div>In 1972 former CIA agents working for Nixon were caught breaking into the Democratic Party Headquarters at the Watergate complex. Pres. Nixon tried to cover it up, saying it involved national security. Two investigative reporters first reported possible links between the Watergate and the White House. The Senate appointed a committee to investigate and the Attorney general appointed a Special Prosecutor to investigate. </div>]]></description>

The United States treated the Nationalist Chinese government, which had established itself on the island of Taiwan, as the official government of China, and vetoed attempts by Communist China to enter the United Nations. The Senate committee asked to listen to the tapes, but Nixon refused. In the case U.S v. Nixon (1974) Nixon further stated that of he turned over the tapes it would lead to judicial control over the Presidency violation separation of powers. The case was brought to the Supreme Court were it was ruled that Nixon must turn in the tapes. </div>]]></description>

Phyllis Schlafly a member of  the Women`s Liberation Movement attack the liberal Republicans.
