One, I do not have cattle. Second, I do not want to risk traveling but not getting gold. I also just would want a promising life as a farmer. Another reason is there is plenty of land in Oregon. So I could have a good life build a house and have a family.

I could trade and my life would be easier. You can get lots of money. It would also be a super easy task. And trading doesn't really mean you will lose money.
