In many cases, it is very difficult to replace the use of living animals in research with alternatives methods. Animals are used in research to advance scientific study. This helps us understand how living things work and what happens to the body when we fall ill and how this can be put right. Animals also help study for human illness or disease. Also, new medicines require testing because we must find out the benefits and harmful effects of something on an organism.
