The book begins with Liberty’s parents separating, and her dad ends up moving out of their house altogether. This creates a lot of confusion for Liberty and her little sister because their mother refuses to answer any questions about their fathers whereabouts. Because of the situation, Liberty is struggling at middle school with multiple things, and one is with her friends. Throughout the whole book Liberty talks about her fascination with stars and space (especially meteors). Although she struggles for a while throughout the book, she learns to accept her parents divorce and all her other problems because of her love for a certain meteor, and the stars.

I think that this book is important to children's literature because many children may be having parents going through a divorce, and it could help them relate to the story.

The story begins with King Derwin looking through a telescope with Bartholomew and talking about the sky as it was raining. Then when it became summer time the king growled at the sun and when it was autumn and there was fog outside the king growled at that too. And when it became winter he yelled about the snow and complained about the four things that come from the sky (rain, sun, fog, and snow). The king then has the idea of trying to control things from the sky, so he has magicians come and they make some substance and release it into the air. The next day Bartholomew sees green stuff falling from the sky that is called the oobleck. The king is thrilled to see it and makes the day a holiday and wants Bartholomew to go tell the whole kingdom. Bartholomew was going to do this until he saw that the oobleck was dangerous to the kingdom and tried to go warn everyone when he faces obstacles. Bartholomew goes back to the king and yells at the king for using magic words and that he should use simple words instead like “I'm sorry”. The king says I’m sorry and all of a sudden the oobleck is gone and then the day is decided to become a holiday to the rain, sun, fog and snow instead of the oobleck.

I think that this important to children's literature because it teaches children to stand up for what is right.

He and his little brother didn't know English at first, so it wasn't very easy for them to make friends. Throughout the book Jingwen thinks about making cakes on this menu of Pie in the Sky because his father had planned to open a bakery before he passed away and his grandparents had a cake shop before that as well, so he grew inspiration from them. The menu Pie in the Sky is a list of cakes their father was going to make. The problem with actually following this dream of Jingwen and Yanghao’s (his little brother) is that their mom does not want them to use the oven when she is not home. So like a lot of little kids, they decide to bake cakes while their mom was not home in secret. In the end, they make all the cakes on the menu of Pie in the Sky.

I think that this book is important for children's literature because it has a lot of pictures/ comics throughout it, so it a is a great transition book for those who are still learning how to read.

Rick knew he wasn't attracted to boys either, so as he discovered this new club at his school that talked about things like sexuality and being confused, he decided to go. The club was called the rainbow spectrum meeting, and this is where Rick would meet some new friends and people that would help him discover who he truly is. The kitten confuses the full moon for a bowl of milk and wants the bowl of milk, so the kitten decides to chase it. After running all over outside, the kitten realizes it will never get to the big bowl of milk so it starts to walk back to the house. Once the kitten got back to the house, it saw a bowl of milk waiting outside for it.

I think that this picture book is important to children's literature because it gives the message that good things happen to those who wait, or those who work hard to get there.

-Top 5
The story begins with this stuffed animal (a rabbit), named Edward Tulane that is currently with his first owner who is a little girl that adores him. The little girl takes Edward with her everywhere, and one day took him on her family cruise trip. Sadly, Edward fell overboard and the little girl lost him. Edward was lost at sea for a while, until a fishman and his wife found him in the ocean. From then on, Edward was passed on from person to person until a little boy stole him from someone's yard to give to his sick sister. His sister loved that rabbit until the day that she died. After that, the little boy sold Edward to a guy that said he would fix the rabbit only if he could sell it in his shop. Edward sat on the shelf with all the other toys for a while until a lady and her daughter came into the shop. The lady turned out to be his first owner that lost him at sea, and bought Edward back to give to her daughter. After going from person to person, Edward Tulane began to love and appreciate his owners more than he ever did originally.

I think this book is very important for children's literature because it is very well written and truly does show a great example of self-growth.
