1. Instead of watching driver's videos, my mother actively taught me how to drive a car at 15. She took me to an empty lot, and let me get behind the wheel. I remember pressing buttons, flicking switches, and turning knobs to figure out how the car worked. I was allowed to actively learn how the car interior and to operate it.

2. In my 10th grade year, I dissected a cat for my Anatomy class. We had spent previous classes reading over chapters, but we eventually were able to become hands on. My teacher created a scavenger hunt for us to search for different organs in its body. I was able to see firsthand the inside anatomy of an animal.

1. When I was in seventh grade English, my teacher instructed us to keep a journal in class. At the end of every week, we would write what we learned. This was constructive learning. I had to reflect and articulate what I learned every week through writing. Completing the journal better helped me understand the material I was learning.

2. In math classes, I am often told to show my work for answers. This is also constructive learning. Being able to explain and show how I came up with my answers shows that I completely understand. Not being able to articulate how I got my answers means that I need practice on the subject.

1. I participated in the Memphis organization called MPLOY. I was assigned to work in a theater. I had to connect and collaborate with my co-workers to build an entire set for a production. We had to each share our ideas and own knowledge in order to build a set from scratch.

2. Bridges was a program I participated in that challenged me to talk and share my thoughts with others. Bridges presented us with exercises and activities that required me to talk and listen to others. With opinions and ideas from others, we solved the problems and puzzles presented to us.

1. In my ninth grade science class, we studied water conservation. My teacher connected our studies to the real world by having us analyze our school's water usage. We had to calculate how much water the school used daily, weekly, and monthly. After analyzing our school's water usage, we had to think of solutions that would reduce how much water the school wasted.

2. For my personal finance class, we learned about budgeting. For a project, my teacher assigned each of us a profession and wages. From that, we had to set aside money for a car, house, groceries, and necessities. We had to apply what we learned about budgets to a real life scenario.
