During fall, the Native Americans started hunting lots of animals and harvesting crops. They did this to prepare for the winter. They used all natural resources like how they used animal skin to craft clothes. Same with how they made tools and how they built their houses. This was very good for the environment and climate. Using all these natural resources did not cause nearly as much damage to the environment and climate that we do nowadays. One of the only thing that effected the environment was building a town and farms, the farms could be 100 acres taking up lots of natural habitat. On the 5th paragraph, Wells said "primarily farmers planting fields that averaged one hundred acres in size" This was not much of a problem it barely effected the environment at all but it did cost lots of trees and habitat. This also relates to climate and climate change now because now we are losing lots of trees and natural habitats, this makes climate change worse and is effecting thousands of species.

The bead known as wampum beads were a very important bead to the Native American culture, but they relate to how bad climate change is today and its main cause. They weren't just any normal beads, they were rare and valuable to the Native Americans. These beads were only found by the Native Americas who lived across the Atlantic coast. The beads were used by these Native Americans to trade for niceties like for, clothes, animal skin, and more. One of the important functions of it was making high quality belts. Europe soon became involved because making trades with Europe and the Native Americans because the wampum beads were a good valued item good for trading. But soon Europe started making factories that product Wampum. They made tons of factories and make more and more trades with the Native Americans and obtaining more and more goods from the Native Americans. For example, on the 8th page the Smithsonian Museum said, "Dutch settlers established wampum factories, including the Campbell Wampum Factory". This relates to Climate change because this was the start of climate change, factories are one of the main issues causing climate change and they are bad for the environment. Now this is much worse, there are much more factories that are producing products and selling them. In the first paragraph, Rachel said, "Indigenous nations across the U.S. have lost nearly 99 percent of their historical land base over time." This means that only 1 percent of historical Native American land is still here in the US. This does not mean all of the Native tribes are gone, there are not many but there are some tribes that still live in these lands. The problem is, they are facing climate change. With high increase in temperatures, theirs environment is effected and these tribes are forced to live in areas that are highly exposed with climate change and face extreme heats. This is ruining their environment and they cannot do much about it. They dont have air conditioning or anything like that to cool them down. When the Europeans first came to America they noticed how rich and resourceful the land was. They noticed every detail, what they could farm and harvest so they could sell it. They also payed attention to how the Native Americans took care of their land and how they managed it. Eventually the Europeans became greedy, jealous, and selfish. This changed everything. The Europeans conquered the land and and use the resources. The Native Americans cared about their land and the environment. This is why they had such rich land and so much resources. This is the reason climate change would never be a something they would have to deal with. They believed that all of the environment is connected and needs to be cared about. The Europeans did not care about the land or the environment, it was for their own good and profit.
