  • Born in el ferrol, spain, 1892
  • Franco was a soldier who rose through the ranks of the army in spain ,which he is from, until the mid-1930s. When the social and economic structure began to fall apart, franco joined a growing rebel movement. He soon led an uprising and took control of the republic government of spain following the spanish civil war(1936-39). He led a brutal military dictatorship in which many were executed and imprisoned the early years of his reign. After his death on november 20, 1975 spain soon transitioned to a democracy.

He came out a victor of the rebellion with the help of nazi germany and fascist italy ultimately forming the rome-berlin axis. Afterward he appointed himself as the leader of spain and from then on led a ruthless dictatorship

    During his reign he led nearly tens of thousands to executions  and imprisonment. He outlawed all other religions other than catholicism as well as banning catalan and basque languages. He also to ensure his power established a secret police.

However he also did execute and imprisoned many, many people as well as  have relations with adolph hitler in hopes of maybe joining the axis with germany and italy and led a ruthless dictatorship.     I see francisco franco as a villain but some people may disagree. Why they may disagree is because he did in fact stop communism from spreading into his country which many were grateful for that.

    One thing this topic relates to is ww2. before the the begining of ww2 germany and its allies were steadily getting stronger. At the start of the spanish civil war francisco received help from nazi germany and italy which helped him gain the power to take over spain. after ward ww2 son was under way and francisco franco decide he wanted to madye join the italy- germany axis in order to gain more power and make his country stronger.
