         <description><![CDATA[<div>According to <em>Ancient History Encyclopedia</em>, tunnels were built "for their water aqueducts and roads" because mountains and hills, as an example, would be a problem. Fire-quenching is a technique where the Romans would heat the rock with fire, and then immediately cool it with water to crack the hard rock; building tunnels could take years or even decades.</div>]]></description>

The slaves who were forced to make them used red instead of black clay, and pressed molds down on the clay to create the design, not by painting it.          <description><![CDATA[<div>Today, there are roads that are made similar to Rome's concrete roads, using the bricks or rocks. Instead of dirt paths, the concrete roads were made to provide sturdier ground and if it rains, the path would not be ruined or messed up. </div>]]></description>
