Maggie is the protagonist of the first chapter. Currently, she is in a very bad mood because of her grandfather Gee, who died.

 

Maggie and her grandfather had a very close relationship. Maggie loved to sit on the couch with Gee, while he told her about all of the stories behind his token pictures, which he shows her. Now Gee is dead and Maggie is still sitting on the couch the whole day, thinking about the time she spends with her grandfather. She retracts because she feels uncomfy while all of the other people look at her in a sad way at Gee´s funeral, But in all of the pain she got an exercise from Gee. He left her a box with seven little compartments. In every compartment is a seashell with all different letters on top. It should be a gift from Gee to Maggie to think of him while finding out what the seashells stand for. Maggie looked at the different letters and brood what it could be for a mystery. After a while, she knows what the seashells stand for. Her grandfather picked up these, each one from a different country, and left her to Maggie, and now, it is Maggie´s task to visit all these different countries and bring the seashells back, where they come from. It is a very tangent gift for her because it will take her a long time to bring them all back. The lovely background story is, that she will remember with each beach, where she will lay the shell back, think of Gee.
