<title>The History of Tourism in Malaysia is a tourism department was established in 1959 in the Malaysian Ministry of Commerce. The principal aim is to include the tourism in Malaysia&#39;s sub-national plan for 1971-1975, while giving more emphasis to the role of tourism in the economy. Then, as late as the 1980s, the government encouraged tourism to continue with the Minister of Culture and Tourism. On May 20, 1992, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism became the Ministry of Culture, Arts and Tourism or MoCAT renamed. MoCAT, in turn was due to be dissolved in April 2004 to allow for the creation of a separate ministry, the &quot;Ministry of Tourism (MoTour)&quot;, as it was related to tourism. Also, on May 15, 2013, after the 13th general election, MoTour was successfully transformed into the Ministry of Tourism and Culture (MOTAC). The aim is to support the close linking of tourism and culture to promote Malaysia as a destination of choice, in line with the popular slogan &quot;Malaysia, Truly Asia&quot;. On July 2, 2018, the ministry was already renamed the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture of Malaysia as announced by Chief Minister YAB at the formation of Cabinet after the 14th general election.</title>
