Prof Dr Muhaya was born in Kuala Terengganu in 1959. Her husband's name is Dr Azmi Jamion. She have two daughter name Nur Athiyah and Nur Aniyah. Prof Dr Muhaya was graduated from medical school in 1985, obtained a Fellowship at Uveitis at Moorfield Eye Hospital, UK in 1998, which culminated in Phd from University of London in Ocular Immunology. She is the first Malaysian to subspecialise in Uveitis and started the first Uveitis service and immunosuppresive therapy in autoimmune eye disease in the country. She was appointed as reference in the management of Uveitis case since 1998 and has provided training for local ophtalmologist and residents in the field of Uveitis.
