A pressure that encourages them to do their best and enough discipline to succeed in life. If that the pressure doesn’t affect their self-esteem badly and makes them feel in a way that is no way near happy. It’s important to encourage them to at least try, but to be the best isn’t always the greatest thing.

It depends on how much schoolwork we have. On average 5-10 hours at least. But it really depends.

The hours of leisure time really depend on schoolwork and the mood I’m in. Our goal is to have more leisure time than schoolwork. But approximately about 20 hours.

No, not usually at least. They always ask if i have a test or homework but in the end it’s always me who has the responsibilities. As for leisure activities I mostly choose my time on my own. Of course, there as some times when they can suggest what i should do, but i decide over my own activities.

Parents should praise their kid when they do something good, but not with words, simply actions and words of affirmation. We believe that giving money as a reward can be very ineffective since it makes the work more about gaining than learning. As for teachers and students, it’s important to not praise a single person in front of a whole class. It should be done when the teacher is alone with a student. Praise from a teacher can be effective and make someone proud of their work and achievements.

It’s mostly yourself that is to blame. It’s you that should leisten in class and try to learn. The teachers will also have a responsibilityof teaching but in the end it comes down to the person who’s learning. Accordning ti western parents thay belive it has a lot to do with the teachers but to a certain grade also the kid, or the one who’s learning. They would never blame the kids with harsh or disrespecful words though. And lastly, as for Asian parents, they are very strict and will simply blame the kid for not trying enough, for not being good enough and not reaching the expectede grade.

Pros Western:

Methodical, sympathetic and ethical, uses a way of praising instead of comments that hurt the self esteem

Cons Western:

Too nice with a small amount of discipline and too much blame on the teachers

Pros Chinese

The work gets done and they will become more unaffected by mean comments, more prepared for a harsh future.

Cons Chinese

Hurt, too much work, low self- esteem, tired, reaching high expectations for themselves.
