One of my favorite animals is the Great Blue Heron, and there are many factors that contribute to this. Firstly, they are noble birds that are astonishingly beautiful in person. Great Blue Herons are predators as they hunt mostly fish; however, they eat insects and small mammals as well. They stick to the milder climates of North American to avoid harsh winters such as in the Arctic. When Great Blue Herons are disturbed, they fly away, which is a beautiful sight as their wingspan is between 167 - 201 cm wide. Standing at 91 - 137 cm, they are prominent birds that are easy to spot. When it is breeding season, their eyes redden, which has been caused by evolution. Their mating rituals include a complex dance with neck snapping and stretching. How interesting!

Elephants are the tremendous existing land animals that are undergone studying for many years.Three living species are currently recognized: the African bush elephant, the African forest elephant, and the Asian elephant. They are the only surviving members of the family Elephantine and the order Proboscis. The order was formerly much more diverse during the Pleistocene, but most species became extinct during the Late Pleistocene epoch. Distinctive factors of elephants include a long proboscis called a trunk, tusks, large ear flaps, pillar-like legs, and tough but sensitive skin. The trunk is used for breathing, bringing food and water to the mouth, and grasping objects. Tusks, which are derived from the incisor teeth, serve both as weapons and as tools for moving objects and digging. The large ear flaps assist in maintaining a constant body temperature as well as in communication. African elephants have larger ears and concave backs, whereas Asian elephants have smaller ears, and convex or level backs.

Elephants are scattered throughout many parts of the world that embrace; sub-Saharan Africa, South Asia, and Southeast Asia and they represent in different habitats, including savannas, forests, deserts, and marshes. They are herbivorous, and they stay near water when it is accessible. They are considered to be keystone species, due to their impact on their environments. Elephants prominently relevant to have a fission–fusion society, in which multiple family groups come together to socialite. Females (cows) tend to live in family groups, which can consist of one female with her calves or several related females with offspring. The groups, which do not include bulls, are usually led by the oldest cow, known as the matriarch.

Males commences to leave their family groups when they reach puberty and may live alone or with other males. Adult bulls mostly interact with family groups when looking for a mate. They enter a state of increased testosterone and aggression known as mush, which helps them gain dominance over other males as well as reproductive success. Calves are the center of attention in their family groups and rely on their mothers for as long as three years. Elephants can live up to 70 years in the wild. They communicate by touch, sight, smell, and sound; elephants use infra sound and seismic communication over long distances. Elephant intelligence has been compared with that of primates and cetaceans. They appear to have self-awareness, and appear to show empathy for dying and dead family members.

I have no idea why I am so attracted to this adorable creature, but I would like to share the Polar Bear’s interesting features.

Polar bears are called the largest carnivores on the land, and this predator eats seals, seahorses, beluga whales, fish, and waterfowl.

As you see the polar bears in the zoo, they walk slowly, descend gracefully in the water, and look a little bit lazy, but they can run about 24 MPH on land and keep swimming for more than 37 miles!

Most of the time, male polar bears breed two babies at a time, and their parenting time is about two and a half years. During this time, they never breed.

One of the astonishing features of polar bears is that their fur consists of a layer of dense underfur and an outer layer of guard hairs, which appear white to tan but are actually transparent. Their white tan furs are indistinguishable from snow and ice, so their appearance is useful for hunting. Their furs also keep their bodies warm; thus, they can undergo harsh weather.

However, there are disturbing factors for polar bears due to global warming. According to recent research, the number of polar bears is approximately 26,000 and has decreased by almost half in the past 10 years. A scientist says that they will become extinct by 2100.

Various organizations, such as WWH, have tackled this problem. I hope people enjoy watching polar bears in the zoo after 2100 as I used to do.

I researched about Sea Firefly creatures that live on the bottom of the sea that create fantastic view that I saw when I was a child.

Sea Firefly is nocturnal and discharge flashing blue light. A luminous crustacean that lives on the coast of Japan, and it has an elliptical sphere covered with two transparent shell-like coating and looks like a grain of rice. They live in the sand on the seabed during the day, and at night they swim and become predators and breed. The flashing blue light emission factor is to intimidate foreign enemies, and when challenged, it emits light vigorously. Males also use luminescence as a ritual courtship display. The original luminescence of the Sea Firefly could not luminesce without external light, and it could only emit very weak light, but during its evolution Sea Firefly can create light from chemical reaction within their body.

When I was a child, I went on a trip and saw a lot of sea fireflies. The astonishing spectacle commencing at dusk and continuing into the night when all was silent. The Sea Firefly was invisible in the dark sea, but I began to see a fantastic and astonishing landscape of countless flashing blue light, bouncing up and down in the dark water between waves creating layers of swaying light. I took a long time to descend from the excitement of my emotion after seeing the mysterious and fantastic sight.

However, there were a few ill-mannered people who were not noble among the large crowd and disturbed natures spectacular light showtime. I remember their absurd misbehavior that caused me to undergo a rapid change in emotions from amazed to frustrated in their misbehavior.

Seeing the Sea Firefly is harsh because of weather, water temperature, and time, but the experience is worth the hardship. The memory of the Sea Firefly is prominent, but the ill-mannered people are also remembered. The two important lessons from this experience are nature is amazing and there will always be people who do not appreciate natures beauty.

When I first met Harley it was a couple years ago and I just came back to California and Harley was so astonishing to me, because I was the dog sitter for her she knew I was in pain broken, and she will come, and lick my face she is known to cheer people up like my mom . So I start it to play with her, walk with her, and feed her. When she was with me. I didn't want to be around no one only her. Harley commence being my furry best friend every morning she will wake me up and we will have the Harley Show we will pray for everything. There was a video of two dogs getting scolded about "who ate the cookies" by their owner that's how the Harley show began we will go walking and she will know when she was going to walk, because when I would put my shoe on and she would start bouncing on me to try and rust me . Sometime I wish I was invisible, because she always love to walk so when we will go walking there is a lot of different layers of hill to walk on. Every week it is a rituals to go walking and have the Harley show. Sometime Harley will disturb me when she needs something she is a very spoil and a loving dog that always makes me happy or should I say I disturb her, because we pray in the morning and when she eating her food. I love to make her cry, because the face expression would be hilarious. This dog can be absurd sometime when she play and bark . So that's when I decided to record her and say "Harley who ate the cookie", and ask her for he paw to pray. I would record her, and put the video on a group text, and say its the Harley Show so my family will know we are both alive lol She probably thinking in her head like really Felicia can you stop recording me lol. That's why Harley is prominent to me, because she safe me when I was broken no one can't say any harsh words about her she is a blessing, and a noble dog in my life. I thank God first my sister Cecilia and my niece Ginny for letting her be apart in life. Now Harley is a big sister of two goofy dogs name Khaleesi and Badger.. Harley has her group text fan and facebook fan lol...

The reason I chose this animal is that it is completely colored. It has astonishing colorful and very vibrant skin. We cannot say it is exactly a predator, but it is an animal that feeds on flies and insects. We know that parrots talk, and repeat what is said, but this event can sometimes disturbed people. My parrot sometimes starts to shout absurd voice and sometimes it can make noise , but I love him very much. He is a really noble animal for me. Let me tell you a little about my parrot, He's name is Tombul, and he has some ritual during the day. He gets up in the morning and yells at me, rolling around in his cage and playing. Female parrots are very irritable during breeding so it is important to act calmly. Parrots eyes can be colored and their eyes flashing at night.
Parrots do not have the ability to be invisible , and colored ones attract attention. My parrot is a bit playful and loves descend from the slide and my friends said "wow" when they saw this move.

Alice's Koi in Her Pond

I haven’t really kept any pet before, however, if koi belongs to a kind of pets, I used to keep countless koi in my backyard in China. The picture above was I took several years ago in my Chinese home. Koi is an informal name for the colored evolutions of C. rubrofuscus kept for ornamental purposes. Nowadays, koi is thought as a presentation of Japanese culture. In fact, as a member of carp family group, it was first bred for color mutations in China more than a thousand years ago. Finally, the systematic breeding of ornamental koi commenced in the 1820s in Japan. At that time, not a lot of people were aware of the development of color evolution in Japanese koi until 1914 when the Niigata koi-the most prominent member in koi family were exhibited at an exposition in Tokyo. From then, the hobby of keeping koi spread throughout Japan and eventually worldwide. The number of varieties continued to grow, and repeated crossbreeding created more flashy koi. In Japanese, the word “koi” also means “affection” or “love”, so koi are symbols of love and friendship in Japan; in Chinese, the word “koi” sounds like “prosperity”, and “fish” also sounds like “abundance”, therefore, koi is a symbol of luck, and good fortune in China. Based on these factors, it becomes a ritual for many Japanese and Chinese to keep koi in their gardens. The bright colorful characteristic of koi is a disadvantage for them to avoid predators. During nighttime, they usually descend to deeper layer of water to be invisible to predators. Sometimes my koi also hided under stones for safety. In winter, I usually did not disturb my koi because they needed to save their energies in cold water, however, they did not really need food. From my discovery, it is not so difficult for them to live in low temperature; while, undergoing the challenge of infectious diseases which usually breakout in Spring is very harsh for them. I used to lose hundreds of koi within a Spring several years ago. However, koi are very hardy. With proper care, some species can live more than fifty years, a few species’ lifetime is even beyond one hundred years. For me, another interesting thing is that, in the second year after my family left my hometown, a friend told me that my koi bred astonishing number of offspring. Hopefully I can see them one day in the future.

The white eared bulbul birds are my favorite birds for many factors. First, they are beautiful birds that have their bodies covered with layers of soft grey feathers and black heads with white cheeks. Second, these birds are very social and they astonishingly go along very easily with humans. I had a couple as pets several years ago and I had a wonderful time playing with them. They liked to sleep on my shoulders and eat from my plate. Indeed, these birds are so friendly and cheerful unless they get disturbed by someone while they're resting. Another factor I chose these birds for is their prominent voices that I can easily recognize from other types of birds, especially their singing when they commence their rituals getting ready for breeding. However, white eared bulbul doesn't breed in cages and confined spaces and it only breeds in nature. About their diet, these birds eat most kinds of fruit and vegetables, yet they are also good predators. It would be impossible for a fly to pass over one of them without being caught. Unfortunately, I learned lately that these birds are in danger in Iraq and their numbers are decreasing due to harsh hunting. I wish people who are in charge of protecting wild animals would take action against hunters to save these sweet creatures.
