https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=heMhD8635qA

The video didactically explains how did the Great Depression affected Canada. During the 1920s, Canada's economy was doing extremely well. However, when the Stock Market collapsed, no one could afford the prices of Canada's exports, provoking countless of people to lose their jobs. During this period, the vast majority of Canadians were unhappy with Prime Minister Mackenzie Baker due to his lack of politics to solve the economic crisis. In the 1930 elections, M.B. Bennett was elected; he started a "Communist Hunt" and created work camps for single, young a poor men who later went to strike in Ottawa.

Given that welfare policies were limited at the time, and unemployment insurance was nonexistent, Canadians were forced to seek help from the cities; they aimed to get food, temporary housing, cash for necessities, clothing, and work. Unfortunately, the crisis gave place to homeless men's camp in marginal places of the cities called "Hobo Jungles".
