Transform stereotype,
racism and your world
Link : https://youtu.be/e__Qsl0hU_g

Summary

Zamina Mithani is a speaker in the video that I watch and hear. She’s explores the nuances of the subconscious biases through her own story. From rapping Muslims to homeless citizens she urges everyone to go beyond stereotypes and towards harnessing the power in diverse perspectives. People who don’t like us and people who don’t think like us are actually the key to our growth. Ultimately, the solution to a world where people are categorized into “kinds” is to start being kind. She is seeking kindness revolutions and diversity solutions. She is passionate about interfaith harmony, and helping leaders “judge their judgement” in order to move beyond a world of labels and towards a world of love.

My Opinion

She is passionate to share about her thought and she urges everyone to go beyond stereotypes. Some people labeling someone who wears the hijab as a terrorist. And through her talk brings out a true message that makes us stop and think about how we individually judge others. And it can make all the difference in the world, if we stop and change this.

Vocab

Probably | Adverb | Mungkin

Distinguish | Verb | Membedakan

Stumbled | Verb | Tersandung

Homeless | Adjective | Tunawisma

Huddled | Verb | Meringkuk

Shivering | Adjective | Menggigil

Bald | Adjective | Botak

Dorm | Noun | Asrama

Onto | Preposition | Naik

Tremble | Noun | Getaran

Evolve | Verb | Berevolusi

Prejudice | Noun | Prasangka

Thief | Noun | Pencuri

Opportunity | Noun | keberuntungan

Society | Noun | Masyarakat

Barrier | Noun | Penghalang

Bother | Verb | Mengganggu

Appearance | Noun | Penampilan

Perceived | Verb | Merasakan

Judging | Verb | Menilai

Fundraising | Noun | Penggalangan dana

Event | Noun | Acara

Donate | Verb | Menyumbangkan

Stand | Verb | Berdiri

Fazed | Verb | Terganggu

Reflection

Listening helps me learn more vocabulary and it helps me to feel more comfortable when listening to English.
