What: The War that opened the gates to the Ohio River Valley.
Why: The French tried to settle in the Ohio River Valley which had already been laid claim to by the English, and the colonists.
Important Fact: The British Victory of the Seven Years War led the way to the beginning of Westward Expansion.

Who: Original settlers.
What: A constitution for the new settlement.
When: November 11, 1620
Where: Aboard the Mayflower.
Why: The original settlers needed a form of law or a system to govern them until they could receive formal permission from the Council of New England. They had to wait for permission because they did not land in the area they intended to, they were supposed to land in the mouth of the Hudson River, they instead landed outside the bounds of the Virginia Companies area. So it was questionable if the English government controlled them.

Who: The author of the Declaration of Independence, George Washington's Secretary of State, and the third president of the United States.

Where: He was born on April 13th, 1743 in Virginia. He eventually moved to Monticello, where he lived from that point on.

Why: He was one of the most influential writers of the Revolutionary War, and for some time afterwards. He also was the first Secretary of State, and often butt heads with Alexander Hamilton for state rights.
